Yes, this is quite a victory given this administrations lack of action on climate change and reluctance to add any animals to the endangered species list.

And yes, we now need to take action. If you are interested, please check out my climate change action group:

Heck yeah this is good news. I think that this might allow us concerned citizens to oppose updates to and proposals for new coal fired power plants.

it's good news, but not great news...they're actually listed as "threatened", but not "endangered", and there's an exemption for global warming from the risks the gov't has to consider to protect them...

But I wonder how long this good news will be... its a victory yes.. but it can be recinded.. don't forget whos at the Administration.. & he will stop at nothing to get what he wants..
This is Good News all the same.. & I hope the Endangered Species Act stays for along time to come..

Yes, this is a victory and a step in the right direction...but we must be shure this is not a "protection on paper only" bait and switch..we need to ensure ACTION is taken...sign the petition to ensure that action here:

It is great news, noted, thanks Chris. Petition signed. The bears are going to need a miracle as temps aren't going down anytime soon. Floating manmade islands, what happened to that idea? That could employ a lot of fishermen with ships that are out of work, if they could even get up there to do it. What else can be done to save their habitat in time?

This has been a long time coming. It is a step in the right direction. I'd like to see them on the endangered list. I certainly hope this is not recinded any time soon. The pressure needs to stay on the politians to protect all wildlife including the Polar Bears. I am happy to see this though. :-)

Noted & signed the petition & forwarded it to friends. Thanks for the news & the petition!
It's shameful that we have to sue our public servants to get them to do their jobs, and then they just make a pitiful gesture instead of doing what was needed.
