Stop the Palm Oil Terror in Honduras

Environment  (tags: destruction, environment, forests )

- 2113 days ago -
The global palm oil boom is having a disastrous impact on Honduras. Current demand and high prices on world commodity markets have led to a leap in production in the Central American country. Please take action and share.

thanks for taking action. Please help to make our call really powerful.

We all need to start eating local, planting local, and save our local farmlands from the devastating affects this is causing all around the world.

Again, without any thought to the original people that live in an area, the indigeneous, the rape and pillage of their environments continue on. Displacing these people, most of the time they end up in slums with no way to feed or take care of themselves. Once the land is raped of all it's worth, then those who make the profits simply move on and find another place to destroy and people to force into poverty.

I read labels because of my vegan diet & when I see palm oil, it is put back on the shelf. Not purchasing products that contain palm oil will have a monetary impact & make those producers realize that consumers care more for the populous & the trees & habitat that is being destroyed for the sake of their product.

Palm oil isn't even healthy to eat so why don't we force food manufacturers to stop? The human race won't be satisfied until the planet is totally raped, but by then it will be too late.

Ive been saying it and it seems many agree, there will not be a square inch of earth left that has not been raped, pilaged, scarred or destroyed for GREED.
I wonder what the greedy bastards will do when theres nothing left to destroy..hope Im long dead b4 then, although it would be nice to see their greedy faces at a loss. SOMEDAY.

I was thinking this morning how its amazing how people think environmentalists, vegans, and even PETA supporters , etc are all crazy. WHY? because we CARE about something other than ourselves? because we care about this planet which sustains us and care about all the other creatures who deserve to live and thrive too? Whats CRAZy are those who only care about themselves. I GUARANTEE they WILL care someday, when it effects them personally and then they will be up in arms whining and complaining, 'WHY didnt anyone do anything?'. DUH!, we ARE TRYING NOW!
Thanks for the FWD Constance and for the great story mary.

We as consumers have to DEMAND it stop being used. Last I knew Girl Scouts used it in their cookies.. Speaking of cookies, did you know GMOs are already in the food supply?..keebler cookies is an example. Its time we stand up and DEMAND NO MORE CRAP. Its crazy how so many toxins banned around the world are still allowed in our foods. (Its cuz they want us to get sick so the insurance companies make more money of course!)

I totally agree that we need to buy locally, and grow our own food as we are able. That way, our local economy benefits, and we know the origin of our food.
I totally do not buy anything that lists "palm oil" as an ingredient, but some listings are purposely vague and mis-leading.
These greed-meisters just won't be happy until the earth is totally destroyed, our wildlife is wiped off the face of the earth, and our air and water are poison to us! Then and only then will they want to "fix it", and it will be far too late!
