North Korea defied world powers and carried out an underground test Monday of a nuclear bomb, Russian officials said was comparable to those that obliterated Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The incident drew condemnation from Washington to Beijing.

Japan and South Korea are feeling threatened and extremely compelled to create a joint nuclear task-force as a viable deterrent against North Korea's apparent Cold War mentality!!!

The world continuously appears to be forming the final battle lines for the next and perhaps last 'Big War'.

Noted, and thank you.
Seems some posturing going on by North Korea to secure a position in globalization, just my opinion.

The North Koreans have seen the weak response of the United Nations to Iran's headlong dash to acquire nuclear weapons and have gone for broke.
You could well be right Robert.

Sorry Stan don't let historical fact get in the way of a great point. It is the other way around.

Which ? N. Korea has been jacked around by the international community in general and the United States in particular re: honouring treaty agreements. They have a banking problem aggravated by the U.S....though some justification was sought by alleging they were counterfeiting U.S. currency ( the Fed's perogative...a wry jest )
Iran has been trying to secure domestic power generation through a Russian-supplied facility and with Russian-supplied fuel..all done according to international standards. The technology is improperly referred to as applicable to weaponry : Russia says not. Other Gulf states support Iran's quest for fuel ! Nor does Russia seem to like escalating threats to its own security.
Oddly, there is little mention of their insecurity with all the moves to deploy missiles in their vicinity under the supposed 'threat' of nonexistent Iranian nukes. They dryly note similarities between their current situation and the one that set off the Cuban Missile Crisis.
That's why I posted this
