WASHINGTON - Some 90 billion barrels of oil and nearly a third of the world's undiscovered natural gas remain untapped under an area north of the Arctic Circle, government scientists estimate, in the largest-ever survey of the area's energy potential.

Please do not think that by posting this story that I am in favor of drilling, I am not. I do hope that anyone that reads this will know that this article does not mean that the US has the right to this, they do not. Nor will this fix the problem, the area belongs to others, it will take time to develop if it is used, and the supply will only be enough for a few years.

Agreed - I just posted a similar story earlier today and also an older story from WWF. Imagine how much money will go into this. That money will be much better spent on exploring alternative energy sources (same timeline for resulting in actual benefits)
