Signed. Both of my grandmother's died from it & my grandfather's got it now. I've had other relatives die from it as well. I've seen first hand how horrible it is & how much it affects not only the person who has it, but all of their loved ones too.

Thanks to everone for signing and i agree completely @Paul we really shouldnt have to tell the government about the welfare of its people or have to petition them to do something about it! Its disgusting! @ Ginger i completely get where your coming from too as ive been advocating for alzheimers for almost 10 years now as my Grandmother suffered from alzheimers and to see what that disease does to a loved one or even a stranger is heartbreaking alzheimers robbed my grandmother of her memory, her dignity , her family due to forgetting who they were and worse it robbed her of her life! Thats why i posted the petition because 10 years later and the government has still done nothing about alzheimers! I wont stop advocating for alzheimers until there is a cure

In a book I read earlier this year, 'Toxic Dentistry Exposed', the authors, man and wife holistic dentists, put their patients sometimes vague medical symptoms down to a mouthful of toxins, especially their amalgam fillings, overloading their bodies with poison, and when all the harmful material was safely removed from their mouths, and their bodies were detoxed, their patients medical symptoms mostly cleared up. They were both of the opinion that mercury in the amalgam led to people developing Alzheimer's and various other ailments. As well as banning amalgam, both the US and UK government need to investigate the effects of mercury in the human body, particularly so when mercury vapor is breathed in as it leaches from the amalgam over time, and goes almost directly to the brain via the lungs and blood supply.

Glenville J O is so absolutely right! Mercury toxicity from dental amalgams is a very real thing, and it destroys short-term memory! I believe that many people are suffering from Hg poisoning and they assume it's the onset of Alzheimer's.

I've read that exposure to mold and mildew spores is a major memory-destroyer. ALSO, anyone with memory problems should look into "EMF" (electro-magnetic fields) and make sure that, especially where you sleep, your head isn't near any electrical appliance (such as a clock-radio), and isn't in close proximity to the electrical meter box on the outside of the house. SERIOUSLY. When I read about the problems these things cause, it was an ABSOLUTELY PERFECT description of my own situation. Now I'm making changes, and already things seem to be getting better. So glad it wasn't early-onset Alz's after all. (not yet, anyway, LOL!)

Thank you, Florence. I signed, of course, though I do believe the problem of burgeoning Alzheimer's in this country is already very well-known to the government -- as the projected pricetag is staggering.

Signed. My Mum had Alzheimer and at times she asked who I was. As her son and her carer I must say , that hurts. As for my sister she walked away long before, never came to the funeral, but before the death certificate arrived her solicitor aked : how much money is she getting!
It is not easy dealing with an Alzheimer Mum, but I had help from my wife, who totally supported me, it was not easy, but this is how we made it, and kept Mum happy till the last minute. Then again my wife is Indian, family comes first, she made her feel good and my own daughter as Mum always said "Never gave a damn about her". Mum eventually treated her like a daugter and my wife always treated with respect as a Mum. Mum made it to almost 95, and our 40th anniversiary is coming soon, I am sure we have Mum's blessing.

I cant possibly thank you all enough for signing this petition and i cant even put into word just how important it is for our government in the US to start taking Alzheimers seriously and start funding to find a cure those of you who have been touched by alzheimers threw family friends knows the imporatnce of finding a cure to this horrble disease @Cindy and @Glenville ive read about that, the mercury in fillings and the emp connections to alzheimers i also read somewhere i cant remember where though that aluminum like in soda cans and drinking directly from them can contribute as well so i avoid that too and @ Klaus i commend you and your wife for caring for yyour mum til the end its inspirational and i admire you greatly for it i had to watch my gram be taken away kicking & screaming to a home because my aunt didnt want to be bothered caring for her the family tried to fight it but my aunt had exclusive say in what happened to my Gram and she emptied her bank account then shipped her off its disgusting! I assure you NO home no matter how nice will never care for your loved one more or better than you! Im also sorry your sister bailed & didnt help but im not suprised alot of people flee when the real work starts! Youre my hero for caring for your Mum when no one else would you did the right thing Klaus and im sure in your heart you know it!
