SeaWorld's Orca displays have no intrinsic educational value and therefore should be shutdown.

Signed all petitions. We should boycott all animal based attractions and encourage others to do the same!

Free the orcas and stand up for innocent animals who can't speak for themselves.
Boycott the money grubbing turds who abuse animals. Stop eating animals and laugh in Big Biz's face.
There are a lot of positive things we can do, we just have to band together and fight. Our present world is caught up in a web of greed. We can stop it.

I agree with you Deb: There is nothing valuable to be learned about orcas thus as they must inevitably display a wide array of unnatural behaviors in response to all the stress they endure in captivity, which is per se unnatural. Moreover, education is but a false pretext for continuing a profitable business at the expense of the physical and emotional well-being of these orcas.

Under no circumstances should more orcas (or cetaceans) be held captive. Those that are but can be realeased should be reintroduced into the wild; those that cannot be freed should be placed in peaceful sanctuaries. Ocean is their home, the only place they belong.

Thank you for another good piece. Noted. All petitions signed.

P.S. Boycotting Sea World, dolphinaria, and similar places is equally important. I can't believe people are still visiting them. If people truly love and respect orcas/cetaceans, they should avoid such places and speak out for their freedom. Here, all they can get is animal abuse and a distorted understanding of these marine animals...

So many petitions signed, and will continue to fight until all orcas, dolphins, seals aren't at Sea World, and other parks like it. These animals aren't for our entertainment. Let them be free. Thanks Deb.

Thank you again Deb! No living being should live it's life in a cage and be subjected to human dominance and exploitation (for whatever reason). I remain somewhat hopeful that at least Orcas may get the support they need and one day be free from us! All petitions signed already or tonite.

When "HUMANS" act like animals towards other people, manipulate them, stalk them, harrass them, and then their families- and ye s, their pets too-and call that progress, we are in some serious trouble.

Yeah, I'm callling on care2 -who love animals so very much, right?- to tell these supposedly superior people to quit harrassing other fellow people- whom they refer to as animals- and indeed, to quit hurting harmless actual animals too. Are you people here going to step up.

S.C.

I am not at all understanding your comments. They neither have direct bearing on the article, nor on comments posted here about the article. It is my hope that you return and more clearly state your position so that I might have a better understanding of what it is that you are attempting to convey.

......There are people here, and other places, who see people divided into two groups. "Humans", successful , confident,, wealthy, the beautiful people shall we say. Then there are normal people, whom these humans refer to as 'animals'- uninformed, poor, insecure, poor-spirited, and generally there to be spat upon and ground into dirt, supposedly for their own good. there are various types of people- animals, but nonetheless there is a set of people that see a gulf and a rift between humans and others. And these "human"people have done some very nasty things. People here have used these words as codes. who is talking about this code, and who is really trying to act in the name of actual animals, is a matter of speculation, but i have ideas between who is there really for animals and who is talking in this code.

Thank you for your insight S.C.

I am the author of the article in question and give you my assurances this article is about the plight of captive Orcas, also known as Killer Whales, and that the article expressly speaks strictly to that plight.

I thank you for taking the time to respond to my query. It is appreciated.

Confining, interfering with sentient life teaches next generation only that it is okay to do so, when the very opposite is true. While in human bodies we are to meditate so as to make as mush progress as possible, love all life, respect Mother Earth and Creation, and never kill, capture, intrude upon any other sentient being, all of whom have the same purposes for being in their temporary bodies as we do. We all have already short times to spend in these material conveyances and to accomplish as much growth as possible within them during the allotted time. Why end this sooner for any? We have the bounty of all that Mother Earth provides for us to use for food shelter and clothing, so, why choose to turn to the sentient life forms to use and abuse and eat, control, confine? This is nonsensical and goes against the Cosmic Code Of Ethics. Restore freedoms to all life.

There is no justification for the capture of these wild mammals. Whales and dolphins should be admired for their amazing natural attributes and protected in the wild - where they belong.

Thank you Deb for the article and for the list of petitions.
