Dear Santa,
ALL creatures deserve at least compassion, if not love, and a right to live their lives free of fear and pain. I ask this right as a gift for all animals, and as a human, I vow to help in any way I can to speak out for the voiceless.
I'm sure no animal would be on your "naughty" list. Only humans belong on that list.
Many other humans think as I do, and like you and your elves, will be working to give all creatures as Merry a Christmas as possible.

Well, I got about 4 sentences into that before falling apart. I wish there was a Santa. But I am eternally grateful to all the fabulous orgs and people out there who tirelessly do what they can to save all wildlife. All petitions already signed, or signed today. And a gazillion thank you's Deb, for encouraging people to give this Christmas to wildlife orgs! A win-win situation, I think - Last year I did exactly that, gave wildlife adoption certificates, and some people really loved it, while a few were disappointed with my gift. I guess they were hoping for some more crap they didn't need. So this year - I am doing the exact same thing!

Dear Santa, I'd rather write a letter to Jesus because HE can actually DO something about Rhino and elephant poaching which is the petition I just signed. But you, Santa, are NOT real. Yet, our children grasp their belief in you perhaps because they see you 1 x year but Jesus surrounds our children animals with HIS INFINITE LOVE! As an adult, naw, I don't believe in you, but I believe in Deb and Deb is doing a GOOD thing here...

Thanks Deb for the great post, All petitions signed, And bless all the people here on Care2 for all the work they do to save our animals, Christmas is about sharing to those that need it most and I can't think of a better way then to donated my time and money on helping our animals, Bless all the org. that are working so hard to protect the voiceless.

THanks Deb for another great post. I did not know that manta rays were caught for their gills. Humans are evil! Starting earlier this year, I told my friends that I don't need any birthday, christmas or new year gifts and asked them to donate the same amount of money they plan to pay for my gift to the animal organizations instead. Or if they prefer, they just stop eating any meat on my birthday and that is a good enough gift for me.

Dear Santa,
For Christmas, I would like to be free. I don't want to be forced into a tiny cage, alone and neglected. I might have to stay here for over 70 YEARS! With no toys, love, or companionship. My parents are at a breeding facility, crying over the loss of babies after babies. They too, are in tiny cages, deprived of everything natural, including light! Or them may have suffocated in the GAS CHAMBERS because they no longer can breed as fast. Sometimes, I rip out my own feathers. This is an incredibly painful situation NEVER documented in the wild. It is the equivalent of a person cutting themself. Intelligence tests have proven I can have the mind of a First-grader. I am very social in the wild, mating for life and traveling 50 + miles a day with my flock/family. It is too late for me. I have already been sold. But for the ten million birds sold annually by Petsmart, there is a glimmer of hope. Care2 members, please sign this petition to save others like me! We do not have Santa, but "Baby Jesus"; this figure represents the faith that all good that a human gets comes from God (or a higher power if you will) -- may this goodness be extended to non-human beings! Their lives are equally sacred. And may all those who victimize innocents, even earning money thus (!), be given a taste of their own medicine. It is always saddening to think how much harm comes from people, although it is absolutely unnecessary, which is a solid reason for serious soul-searching. May all unethically produced, and often useless, goods be boycotted; may words about the protection of endangered animals change into action!

Thanks, Deb, for another skillfully written piece; I love the personal tone (i.e., e.g., 'we Manta Rays'). Also thanks for compiling all the relevant petitions; I have signed all of them.
