Just Say NO to the Monsanto Machine. NO to Frankenfoods. So glad that Haiti and Mexico stood their ground.
The world needs to wake up and put Monsanto out of business! Monsanto doesn't give a damn about plant diversity, they just want to make farmers slaves and experiment on the rest of us.

There is such a lack of info down here (Mexico) about gmos, misinfo, confusion... And, happily, in spite of all that, those who grow varieties of food crops that have stood the test of time know the importance of protecting these varieties. If only the politicians understood why...

With all due respect, this requires more than "just say no." Laws must be enacted to protect people from companies such as Monsanto with clear definitions of the limits and obligations of Corporate behavior and responsibility. Until such laws are on the books, we are all at risk.

"Perhaps farmers united around the world will do what battle worn Asia could not and release society from Monsanto's agricultural stronghold; allowing small farmers, organic farmers, and nature's abundant diversity to remain free from biochemical hijacking."

We sure need to preserve plant diversity and health.

the Organic Consumers Association has joined with Mercola.com and many other groups to require mandatory labeling of all GMO food ingredients sold in California. Other countries do not allow them, it's time we reclaim our food supply as well here in the U.S.. They have collected over One Million $$ in donations( and this has been matched=now 2 Million $$, to educate the citizenry of California about the hazards of GMO foods, to ensure that this bill passes and becomes law. Monsanto's war chest=50 Million $$! Go to Organic Consumers.org and/or Food Democracy Now.org or Mercola.com to to donate, get involved, find out more to protect your right to good healthy food!.

Thank you Deb, for writing your article, and posting!

Plant biodiversity is crucial to ensuring our food supply in the face of pests, diseases, droughts, floods, heat waves and other climate change effects. Some crops will fail under challenging conditions. Understanding this, consider the following: since 1900, approximately 75% of the genetic diversity in food crops has been lost.
