Alzheimer's Disease (AD) is a slow disease, starting with mild memory problems and ending with severe brain damage. Alzheimer's patients have abnormal cravings for sweets.

It takes caring for one who has Alzheimer's to really appreciate the saddest illness there is. You sometimes wish an early easy passing knowing that won't happen. Every single Alz patient I know had said they wished to pass early if they got the disease. Only medical science has allowed them to live so long with so little quality of life.

My Mother has Alzheimer's. Real shame for a woman that put up with an abusive husband, raised 10 children, all from the same man, 5 of them without the help of her abusive husband who she finally divorced, and gave her entire life to God. She sure likes her sweets too!
Someone has to be with her all the time. Four of us, including myself 3 evenings a week, are with her constantly. She likes to watch the Andy Griffith show when I am there. Gets a laugh.
Andy reminds her of her Dad, so she says. He does kinda looks and acts like he did.

Some days are so very hard. Dave and I have spent right at half of our entire relationship caring for them.
