Despite rising concern that conflicts of interest may bias the outcome of clinical trials, the Food and Drug Administration has distressingly limited interest in rooting out the problem.

I'm all for executing self serving public officials found guilty of betraying the people's trust. They do more damage to democracy and the health of our people than a hundred bin ladens. So who is the enemy? Who has raided the mint and stolen all of our fellow countrywo/man's survival funds? Who is leaving town supposedly sad because he failed as leader? Pity the poor billionares while taking your eyes off of the willing workers who've lost their jobs, who can't feed their children nor pay for their homes.

The poison pill planted by ronald reagan has matured, causing future generations of Americans to live in a second world economy while a few at the top of reagan's pyramid scheme flourish. Who is the enemy? Did bin laden corrupt your medicine, blockade you from seeing a doctor, steal your retirement funds and take away your house? No, it was the rich elite and powerful here in the USA who espouse free market capitalism that's suppose to be as American as apple pie but it's really only as American as living on a plantation as a worker, serving master.

Socialism is what pays the bills in America. Socialism is when we all fight for the good of the country and our fellow citizens. Socialism is Democracy, one person, one vote and where the collective will of all of the people determines the direction of the country. (Unless of course the lifetime appointees on the Supreme Court nullifies the will of the people and decide for themselves that direction by their own personal agendas. When that happens, democracy ceases to exist).

Know your enemy. It's not bin laden. Take off your blinders and see who has more food than they can eat, more cars than they can drive, a bigger house fully heated while those who have been betrayed by capitalism are huddled around a barrel, trying to stay warm.

Are those elite super rich work entitled to so much more because they work harder than the common worker? That's a laugh. It's often said that behind every rich person is a felony they didn't get caught for or bribed their way out of. Being well connected isn't a matter of hard work, it's a moral judgment most are unwilling to make. Most won't sell out their fellow country wo/men for personal enrichment. Being willing to isn't hard work, it's being morally corrupt.

Did rush go to jail for smuggling drugs into the USA? Would you have if you did the same thing he did? Is Madoff in jail? Likewise the political appointees of the present regime who also have sold out the wellbeing of the American people for their share of the bribery pie. They are all leaving on that billionaire's bus heading to their gated communities to live their lives in splendor, leaving many in their dust, betrayed and without the resources to survive

The FDA is a good example of the rampant corruption in our government today. I live near a major medical center, who runs clinical trials on medications in concert with the drug companies. I think I'm going to be sick.

Vaughn,

I agree with Sue, a masterful summary. Hard to argue against such compelling evidence.

I recognise in the behaviour of the FDA a violation of the spirit of the law, if not a violation of the letter of the law. If we are to believe in a lawfull society, then we should not betray that belief and see that an investigation is persued, followed by a prosecution and judgement.

One cannot betray your fellow countrymen to benefit the monied interests of the few. Let there be consequences.
