Petition signed.

LINK: http://thinkprogress.org/stop-oreilly-harassment/

The sponsors need to rethink of their advertising dollars any "faux news" programs. What sponsor could possibly want to support "faux news" and harassment programming and be associated with it...

"This harassment needs to stop. As a corporate sponsor of Bill O'Reilly, please issue a clear statement indicating whether you approve or disapprove of this conduct."

TY, Alba.

I am utterly delighted to have made your day, J Carole, in this very special and politically orgasmic way!

Ya know, I don't really resent the fact that Bill O'Reilly is on the air . . . I resent that he has the nerve to dupe people into believing: 1) that it's "news"; and 2) that it's "fair and unbiassed."

Whatever happened to truth in labeling????

Ah, what a pleasure it would be to see O'Reilly bite the bullet and get fired. But he isn't alone. Hannity's America is just as bad if not worse. Ann Coulter, and Van Susteren need to be shut down as well. Rarely do they ever the facts to back up what they say. Lie, after lie, after lie. I remember when O'Reilly had a young man on his show whose father was killed on active serving in Iraq. The young man blamed Bush for his father's death, and O'Reilly went ballistic on him, shouting, "Get him out of here before I kill him. Get him off my show now!"
Adding insult to the suffering of the young man who had just lost his father with insensitive comment flung at him by Shut your mouth, big mouth Bill O'Reilly Fox's favorite bully. The man should be put up against a wall and shot. And I would be more than willing to fire the rifle.... I wrote so many e-mails complaining about O'Reilly that they banned from ever sending e-mail again. And the ban is still on, and I can't send e-mails to Fox News.. Oh, well, I guess that's a good thing...

This is a VERY good cause to support. Bill Reilly is a jerk who harasses women; and who implied on his program that an 18-year-old rape-murder victim was "asking for it".

Thank you for standing up to O'Reilly.

I don't like Rush Limbaugh (the Oxymoron)
one little bit, but he made me laugh awhile
back when, talking of O'Reilly, he said,
"Let's face it folks, the man is Ted Baxter".
What a pleasure to sign this petition! Thanks
so much, Alba, and thank you, too, Jim, for sending
this to me!

This man should be tarred & feathered -- at the very least!!!!

You know, Kathleen, I have often thought of tarring and feathering, there are a few in the media that I would like to see tarred and feathered, I have several candidates who deserve it! Among them, the ones Stephen mentions up there: Hannity & Ann Coutler, most definitely; Van Susteren, I don't know at all!

I swear, as soon as I find petitions against them, you'll find them posted!

So, Barbara, what do you think of my poetic license - 'politically orgasmic'? I love playing with language.

Thank you SO MUCH, Jim, for getting exposure for this VERY worthy cause. I am indebted to you forever!

Thx for your comment, dear sweet Mary.

Great to have you back, Kim! How was Florida?

Thx everybody, for your comments and for supporting this campaign. This is the only way to silence these hate-mongers, these grotesque, retrograde media monsters !

I'm sorry I can't fully appreciate your comment, Tim, 'cause I don't know who Ted Baxter is - don't forget I've lived abroad for 34 yrs and Internet keeps me abreast with lots of things, but not all...

Update from the same ThinkProgress site:

"Over 20,000 of you have joined our campaign." - THAT'S TEN THOUSAND MORE THAN WHEN I POSTED THIS YESTERDAY !!

"Bill O’Reilly Scheduled To Appear On The View And Letterman This Week"

"We have good opportunities to keep the heat on Bill O’Reilly this coming week. On Monday, he is scheduled to appear on ABC’s The View:

(there's a photo & 'learn more' link here onsite)

We can’t imagine that O’Reilly’s insensitive comments about the rape and murder of 18-year old Jennifer Moore — and his subsequent stalking of Amanda Terkel — would go over well with The View’s audience.

(You can email The View here. - It's a link onsite)

Then on Tuesday, O’Reilly is scheduled to appear as a guest on David Letterman’s show. (You can contact Letterman’s show by emailing cbsmailbag@aol.com - that's a link onsite):

--there's a picture here showing this wk's schuduled guests onsite.--

(VERY IMPORTANT)--O’Reilly has never explained his comments about the rape and murder of Moore, nor has he explained why he thinks it was appropriate to stalk Amanda for two hours while she was on vacation.

O’Reilly needs to be held accountable for his “ambush journalism,” which is an effort to target, harasses, and intimidate his opponents.

O’Reilly’s producers have also accosted approximately 40 other victims.

Last week, O’Reilly said on his show that Amanda was “certainly a villain” and referred to all of us at ThinkProgress as “insects.”

Our campaign is asking O’Reilly’s corporate sponsors to issue clear statements against O’Reilly’s mafia-style harassment operation. Over 20,000 of you have joined our campaign. Thank you for all that you’ve done and will continue to do."

I can't stand the man. Get the lier off the air.

I don't think O'Reilly is too scared. From the Associated Press this weekend:
"Fox remains on a mountain above its two closest competitors, with its prime-time audience in March more than that of MSNBC and CNN COMBINED. "The O'Reilly Factor" has done particularly well, keeping more of its postelection audience than anything else on CNN and MSNBC."
I am personally not much of an O'Reilly fan, but my wife loves his show. In any case I think everyone has a right to complain about his show to sponsors. What disturbs me are comments of;
"put up against the wall and shot"
"tar and feather him"
"get the lier off the air"
Just because you and I don't agree with him, he and Fox have a constitutionally protected right to their opinion and the expression of such. "When they came for them, I did not stand up. Now who's going to stand up when they come for me?"

What a long list of truth haters...why is it you all claim haw false it is, yet they provide video clips, articles and documentation to support their claims on the FOX NEWS CHANNEL?

Not to mention, I didn't have to dig far: http://thinkprogress.org/oreilly-campaign-responses/

Susan Rosenberg, spokeswoman for UPS, previously issued this statement to ThinkProgress (3/30/09):

We are writing to clarify our statement of last Friday because it appears to have been misinterpreted. UPS has not “pulled” any advertising from Fox News nor has the company taken a position on the “Think Progress” campaign. Our intent on Friday simply was to note that UPS does not have any pending advertising plans with the O’Reilly show.”

There's a big different between the 'truth' and demogogy. The latter should have no place in a democracy, whatever the ratings say!

Demagogy (also demagoguery) (Ancient Greek δημαγωγία, from δῆμος dēmos "people" and ἄγειν agein "to lead" -- my comment: 'mislead' sounds more like it!) refers to a political strategy for gaining political power -or influencing the public- by appealing to the popular prejudices, emotions, fears and expectations of the public — typically via impassioned rhetoric and propaganda, and often using nationalist or populist themes.

The early 20th century American social critic and humorist H. L. Mencken, known for his "definitions" of terms, defined a demagogue as
"one who will preach doctrines he knows to be untrue to men he knows to be idiots."

(thank you, Wikipedia)
