Action taken. So great to see Tina back. I do not watch CTV global media and after whale wars I`m cancelling Animal Planet as the programming has deteriorated so much. Ironically it seems Discovery is partnering with Steven Spielberg on a series called ``Future Earth``..........go figure. I already boycott Unilever because of their UNNECESSARY animal testing in their frankenstein laboratories for UNNECESSARY products!

Yes the SNL spot is funny but unfortunately all too real. I hope the we are a country much smarter than to actually buy into anything even closely related to SP. To those who are for Palin, well I guess like attracts like.
Gregory and Suzanne I'd give you each 10 stars if I could. Please keep up the good fight!

I'll allow the real shallow side of my personality to have a say here..i usually find dark haired, secretarial looking bossy women quite attractive..yet there is nothing remotely alluring about Sarah Palin at all..oh I forgot that having at least a bit of awareness and decency are also essential qualities..and Palin seems to lack..well ..she seems to lack a soul if i'm to be honest.

Thank you Gregory for all of your hard work with this.

I have signed everything that I can sign and put this on Facebook. I cannot stand the thought that someone as unpleasant and unpopular as Palin can be allowed onto Discovery or Animal Planet Channels. Surely they must understand by now that Palin is neither wanted nor welcome to us animal lovers!

I already boycott Proctor & Gamble and have asked all of my friends and family to do so too. I even speak to strangers to ask them not to buy the products.

In other SNL news, Victoria Jackson was in Buffalo over the weekend for a Tea Party protest, and I have already heard an audio clip of her saying that she had to do this 'because Obama is a Communist.'

Nice to see the starpower (sans brainpower) of Palin and one of the unfunniest people ever on SNL giving the Tea Party this kind of credibility.

One funny thing I did hear about the protest here was that some guys showed up dressed as British soldiers, but their intentions were more comedic than political; they were criticizing the Tea Partiers for wasting tea by dumping it into the water.

Thanks Gregory. That WOMAN! (add all the emphasis you like!)
I had never heard of Tina Fey until the campaign of 08; she rocks. As for Palin, what an embarrassment and the embarrassing moments just kept coming and coming. I would have felt sorry for McCain if he hadn't been such a Bush-kiss-up to start with and if he hadn't brought it completely on himself. Sheesh.
I sent an email to the Travel guy to let him know we're redirecting our cruise plans AWAY from Alaska, cruise plans for the whole family reunion late this summer.
Now Palin comes to AZ to help get McCain (who now claims, straight-faced, that he never thought of himself as a maverick) get through the GOP primary against a challenger from the tea pack. YUK. Go away Sarah, GO AWAY!

I had posted earlier than the 1:16pm post, but not sure what happened to it.

I had mentioned in it that the SNL bit was so perfect because it hit so many of the points about Palin, such as the bit about Todd as a gun-toting, snowmobile-riding vigilante; the ignorant criticism of scientists; her embarrassment over the Couric interview that was the start of wiping the shine off the Palin mystique; and not to mention the idiocy of the TLC show that frames her as a nature advocate.

The only good thing about Palin's exposure is as fodder for comedy.

Robyn L (80)

As a former Alaskan I can guarantee that Sarah Palin does not represent the state or the people. She never has. Sarah Palin represents Sarah Palin. So if she gets a TV show that's what it will be all about.
Noted, signed a bunch of things, emailed, called anybody who would listen and facebooked. Hope I covered it all.

We all know the serious damage Palin does to all we hold dear, but ain't it great using her as comic cannon fodder! She supplies enough outrageous stuff to run our boycott campaign as long as it takes, into 2011 if we must! And just remember it was YOU ALL who launched Palin Alaska Boycott Central!

Mr. McFadden

Thank you for contacting the Alaska Travel Industry Association with your concern over the new "Sarah Palin's Alaska" TV show on TLC. One of ATIA's objectives is to market Alaska in a positive manner to likely visitors to our state. As an organization, we are not taking a position on the show, nor are we in a position to influence Discovery Communications. However, we are keeping track of all the feedback we receive from individuals or organizations like you who have communicated a position regarding Alaska and its representation on national television.

Ron Peck, President & COO
Phone (907) 646-3306

This was the response I received from the email I sent to the ATIA and Ron Peck.

Eureka, now that's what I call FIGHT-FAST-FUN-FESTING! I checked videos on SEN and they played fast for me. My guess is that it's time for you to clean the cookies and "Temporary Internet files" out of your PC memory, they rob many an activist of their speed! I use Internet Explorer. Those who do can click "Tools" in the top horizontal bar, then select "Internet Options". It's in there. You can decide what to delete and what to keep just in case. I've never regreted deleting temporary internet files or browsing history. History? That reminds me:

It's no ones fault that SP is as non intelligent as she is. But when that type of person strives for media attention as she does, look out for the comedians. Stupidity in a politician is a staple of comedians.

More good news! The Center for Biodiversity got an earful from us (Suzanne sent some fire and brimstone in her message) when their satirical April Fool article about Palin backfired and caused many to be misled. To make it up to all of us who are serious about an unrelenting campaign to boycott Palin's stink off Discovery, they've launched a support campaign issuing protest letters to Discovery's CEO!
Your actions are triggering chain reactions, pour it on!

There's a reason that at this moment this is our fourth consecutive Palin Alaska Boycott article to make page one on Care2, and the third in two weeks to be the most active on all of Care2. I just don't get it. How can you invite a person to Discovery Channel, that does know what suffering is and has zero empathy. Maybe she is even on minus. She calls herself a woman and a mother and she is acting like a butcher without any feelings. Instead of wasting time for TV she should take some course: how to raise a child.
It is never too late to learn good things.

Yep, true comedy is Truth. It makes me sad for this country that so many people are ignorant enough to buy into the Palin machine.

Some parting insults from Shakespeare:
``[thou hath] not so much brain as earwax``
``Were I like thee I`d throw away myself``
``How now, wool-sack, what mutter you``
``[thou] appeareth nothing to me but a foul and pestilent congregation of vapours``
``Hast thou never an eye in thy head?``
``Confusion now hath made his masterpiece!``

Thank you Gregory and thank you Suzanne. I am going to wear a stupid grin today. I got really scared today.
I know people from Alberta were welcoming her, but this is not a surprise, Mr. H. is from Alberta also.

"Dear Rosemary,

Thank you for your generous donation to support Defenders work. Your support will help in our campaign to stop Sarah Palin's Alaska, educate Americans about responsible wildlife stewardship and save the lives of wolves and other imperiled wildlife and the places they need to survive."

Not blowing my own trumpet, it was a very small donation, but I really feel good about taking this tiny step towards helping to stop this raddled old ho' in her bloodsoaked tracks.

Good morning all, just reporting back to you that I've made another donation in your honor to the Defenders of Wildlife campaign that's in concert with our PALIN ALASKA BOYCOTT CENTRAL drive. Defenders messaged: "Gregory, with the help of your donation, we’ve just booked space [for boycott posters] in bus shelters outside Discovery Communications corporate headquarters."

This poor excuse for a human belongs locked up for the safety of all the animals in Alaska. She's a brainless twit who attracts those as nutty and stupid as is she. She is not qualified to run for anything, except maybe chasing cars. I, for one, am sick of seeing her face plastered all over and slapped into my face from every where I turn, from her ridicule rants, disguised as speeches on news reports, TV shows, to the ads here on Care2 where she is relentlessly stuck in my face so much that I just sign out awhile. The sight of her killing animals is so nauseating that I cannot bear to look at her. When she comes up in a show on TV or the News on TV; that is when I change the channel. She is no hero, she is an absolute, disgusting, moronic, dangerous, idiot. Will someone please get SP out of our lives? She should be home taking care of her kids so they can grow up better than she did.

MORE GOOD NEWS FOR OUR PALIN ALASKA BOYCOTT: Credo has joined YOU, Defenders of Wildlife, SEN's, GNF USA, GEN, MoveOn, ABC's Jimmy Kimmel, MSNBC, two Facebook groups, Tina Fey on NBC's SNL, the NYT and CARE2 petitioners in ridiculing Palin Alaska and taking action to condemn it and build a boycott force. And if you go to the article this post links to, then to PALIN ALASKA BOYCOTT CENTRAL you'll get the inside scoop from Huffington about the response of Discovery advertisers to the pitch they just got from Discovery. You'll love it!

Hi Ekeim, I'm no tech expert, but maybe your computer is low on memory and you need to run its cleaner.
The other thing you can do is invite Palin herself for a speaking engagement at the Hague. She'd probably do it for only $250,000 or so. Maybe we'd get lucky and she'd buy a pair of wooden shoes as a souvenir, try them on, stumble, hit her head real hard, careen into a windmill blade, get her hair caught in it, and get carried round and round by the windmill. Then you could watch HER goin' round and round for laughs. Heck, having hit her head real hard, maybe it would knock some sense into her and she'd start thinking in terms of clean energy. Can't you just see her hanging by her hair from the rotating windmill blade, yelling down: "Hey! I've got it. All ya need to do to get outta Dutch here -- no offense, some of my best friends are from Belgium -- is hook up some gasoline-powered generators to these here windmills! Get 'em goin' fast enough to produce electricity! Think of all the energy savings! What the ding dong. Hey, I can see Alaska from here! Or maybe its that darned Russia! Say, anybody got a high-powered rifle with a scope? I see a cute little chipmunk out there in that tulip field! Just don't ask me to put my trigger finger in no dike! (wink)"
Hope that helps Ekeim. Where'd you say you were from?

I am so glad to see so much support AGAINST Sarah Palin here! Gregory all of your work and efforts are commendable at the highest level! I just made a special donation to Defenders of Wildlife to support their efforts to put signs up around the Discovery building. If that doesn't get the message across I don't know what will. Again, thanks to all who have commented and given their support here. And Gregory, YOU ROCK!

So many like you are making extra effort to build this crusade because I think we all see it as symbolic of a fight for all we hold dear -- for all of our causes -- against someone and a corporate mentality symbolic of its destruction. And that's what will keep us united and relentless no matter how long it takes. We know we must win this one if we are ever to gain the powerful collective voice that corporate CEO's, politicians, government, and media learn will not -- and cannot -- be ignored.
Palin Alaska has ironically given us a God-sent opportunity. We have months to build our protest and boycott before the program airs, and if it does air, every one of the 8 weekly episodes will incite more people to protest and boycott. We will, ultimately, have the victory we all want, the one the earth and wildlife need!

I wonder, does anyone think Palin even has the slightest idea how the majority of people really think about her? When someone makes fun of her, she just seems oblivious, perhaps she thinks it enhances her image.
For the life of me, I cannot see what people see in her. How can anyone in their right mind, even begin to think she could be the president of the United States?
Brrrrr, it gives me chills to think what our society would be like if she were elected.

After being a liberal for more years than probably most of you have lived, I see that the there is no one more intolerant than current day liberals. You are all mean spirited bullies. Funny how you all ignore the stories about Obama going against the scientific and environmental communities and not allowing salmonpills over Snake River dams. You all enjoy being the bullies of Plain, but would never criticose Obama. After decades of being on the left I am really disturbed by what I see in all you bullies. Makes me want to defend Palin.

Seth E (81)

Respectfully, I'm curious as to what made you less liberal than you had been in the past.

That being said, consider the difference between a prejudice and criticism.

A prejudice is when a person is judged independently of their individual merits and that their character is assumed instead, possibly based on association with a certain group with which they may be affiliated, such as a race or a gender, or even a political inclination, such as "liberals," which you claim to be mean-spirited and intolerant.

Criticism, however, is judgement in which various characteristics based on observation have been considered, and our collective anti-Palin sentiment has tended to be just that. There is no pre-judging when much evidence has been presented to judge and make an informed decision about the character of someone such as Sarah Palin.

Speaking for myself, I think Palin is every bit worthy of criticism for her hypocritical, incorrect, and/or malicious positions regarding religion, family, the environment, political action and policies, etc.

The fact is that Palin has set herself up as a target time and time again for clear judgement and criticism.

Regarding your feeling of liberals being intolerant, remember the old childrens' song, "sticks and stones may break my bones, but names can never hurt me."

We may be calling her names, but this is nothing compared to the derisive and inflammatory speech of Palin that has already drawn fire for its tendency to incite many of those on the Right, even to the point of violent acts, such as those we saw after the passage of the healthcare reform legislation.

Please see the following regarding the impact of inciteful words, such as hers:

If you compare the words from the Left and the Right, I'm sure you'll see the significant difference between the verbal jabs of the liberals, and the hate speech from the conservatives (especially those who compose the "neo-con" and Tea Party ranks), and you tell me, using your informed judgement, who are the real "mean spirited bullies?"

Seth E (81)
Friday April 16, 2010, 11:24 pm

Obama has his flaws, but to expect perfection is naive. Even if there are negatives to his body of policies, taken as a whole, I'm sure you'd see much more positive accomplishment than negative.

I'm sure many of us have even criticized some of his policies with which we have disagreed, but the reason you would not see those in here is because that has nothing to do with the topic of this particular thread. There are other threads where that would be a more topical and relevant discussion.

Palin should be scuppered like the rat she is before she sinks Alaska's ship completely. To Jan: You should focus on the problem at hand. This isn't about Obama or your leftist views, but the protection of wolves and other animals, under threat in the wild, against ignorant, greedy and foolish people.

Gregory Hilbert (422)
Saturday April 17, 2010, 6:07 am
Before making this comment I thought long and hard about the matter Jan raised, for being greatly influenced by the matter of a Prayer chain article I posted on behalf of many yesterday for earth, all life, Pastor Tim and Jill, and now others enjoined.
I agree with Seth and Charmaine about this, and further:
There was a figure in history who cast evil ones out of a temple, who is said to have done so with righteous anger. As a human being who pretends no resemblance to the foregoing, but feels a considered righteous anger, I say Palin should be set out alone in the Alaskan wildnerness without a rifle, where wildlife including wolves yet abound. Let nature decide her fate on earth! As to where her soul goes after, let God pass the final judgement.
And as to where God decides to send mine for saying, with forethought and anger, "Deliver Palin to the wolves for their decision!", I say this: "I pray for justice! Justice, dammitall, justice!".

Gregory, you above statement is priceless. I have been saying just about the same thing about the investment bankers, Bernie Madoff, and all kinds like him. I don't think these people who have caused so much pain, loss, and suffering deseve the "comforts" of jail. I think they should all be stripped naked, have all of their possesions taken away and dumped out in the middle of the wildnerss. Jail is too much of a luxury that they don't deserve. They get free room and board, free meals and free medical care. When these vultures are put in jail the people still have to pay for them.
As to your righteous anger, keep it flamed. We all need to begin to stand up to what is blatately wrong! Too many have remained silent for too long. Perhaps if more had the courage and spirit to speak up and demand justice our country would not be in the mess it is in today. (Like, why aren’t we swarming the streets with signs and protesting the Supreme Courts latest ruling FOR corporations? Just too much effort? Let someone else do it? Don’t make waves?)
Here is one of my favorite quotes:
"You must not hate those who do wrong or harmful things; but with compassion, you must do what you can to stop them — for they are harming themselves, as well as those who suffer from their actions."
His Holiness the Dalai Lama
So we here in this space and others many are doing what we can to stop someone who is causing a great deal of harm and suffering to innocents who can't stand up for themselves.
Again, many, many thanks to you for being the one to keep this going.

Lynn, the ones saying priceless things here are you and the Dalai Lama!
And while it wouldn't be right for me to imply I can represent Pastor Tim's view at this moment, I can say he messaged me privately encouraging my use of a THUNDEROUS voice, and here are two of his comments on one of our articles condemning Palin and calling for effort to keep her off Discovery:

Tuesday March 30, 2010, 9:51 am
Thank you for signing our petition urging Discovery Communications to drop Sarah Palin's new show from their lineup. Your voice can make a powerful difference for our wildlife and wild places.

Thank YOU, Gregory!

Seth you're so on target. She has shown time and again, as has been the course of her kind [evil] throughout the last several decades and down through the centuries, the weakness(es) of the ignorant and thoughtless mind and cold heart bring them to their ultimate demise and self-destruction.

And so in the spirit of Tina Fey's comical satire, below I offer one of those "Roastings" sometimes done at black-tie celebrity dinners, with a little touch of "black humor" of my own, after "Drill baby drill":

Light the fire and "Burn, baby burn!!!" This is gonna be one heck of a bonfire... and I'll be more than happy to provide the marshmallows. I've received word from our wilderness friends they're sharpening their sticks, and a very generous family of grizzlies has constructed a lovely spit to roast her on for the feast!

S'mores anyone? :)

Suzanne, I have lots of graham crackers! Does anybody have some chocolate bars that don't have any palm oil in them?

Seth E (81)
Sunday April 18, 2010, 3:26 pm
Gregory, palm oil? Really? A xenophobe like Palin would never use an imported product, even if it was from Hawaii (as far as she's concerned, she may not know it to be a state, and since Obama was born there, she's probably convinced as to it being a foreign country to vindicate her allegations of him being foreign-born).

She'd make the graham crackers Sarah Palin's Alaska style, just like a real 'Merican, using grains grown from fields where a forest was clear-cut to make room, and for oil, she'd use the blubber from brutally murdered seals or whales. After all, it ain't real Palin food, if it ain't got some sorta meat in it! You betcha!

I think that would need to have a thread of it's own Gregory! lol ~ though the chocolate manufacturers have been hit hard in drops in sales because of their use, more are taking it back out of their "recipes" but even so they have it still in many, and they are getting sneakier about how they label it too!
