Nadia could've been completely destroyed by her experience. She describes having to essentially go away to another place during the abuse she endured. That is known as disassociation. Many abuse survivors with PTSD have recurrent disassociation long after the trauma is over. During the abuse, this escape is protective and adaptive. She is obviously a very resilient individual, and also an admirable one. She is telling the world what happened, and she will help others in the process. Amal Clooney is also admirable for helping her. Thank you for keeping us all informed about these issues, Rose.
