But you see, the wealthy elite no doubt believe that the loss of 45,000 of the non wealthy elite is a Good Thing. A lot better than cutting into their bottom lines!!

Overall a very balanced report from CNN. As someone who has been declined on several occassions and currently pays a higher premium than others my age, I can relate to some of the points in the article. The only thing that bothers me is the leap in logic from uninsured to deceased. I don't think it's logical to assume that all of the people in the examples listed would be alive if they had insurance.

Death is difficult to deal with, I've been around it a little too much with my family and extended family. Encourage those that you love to see a medical professional even if they do not have insurance. It's better than the alternative. And hope that congress subjects insurance companies to the same regulations as other businesses. If your employer cannot discriminate based on gender, race, religion, sexual preference, etc., then why do health insurance companies get your medical file, bodily fluids, height, weight, etc.? The application I just completed for two different insurance companies wanted to know if I had used lsd, ecstasy, and a long list of illegal drugs. Congress allows them under the insurance regulations to ask these questions, and the states, which directly regulate insurance, are just as guilty. I hadnt' used any of them, but why should I be required to answer questions like those?

Tell your congressional representatives to end discrimation by insurance companies. That, and a few other tweaks, will fix a massive amount of the problem.

This is so sad... and should not happen in a nation as wealthy as the USA.. Where are they going wrong... I am shocked to hear this...
