Thank you for joining Human Rights Watch and our partner NC FIELD, a grassroots farmworker organization in North Carolina, as we demand an end to child labor on US tobacco farms. Working with tobacco can be dangerous for adults, but the children who work on these farms face even higher risks of nicotine poisoning, serious injury, and other threats to their health. ~ Noted. Thanks for posting this, Robert.

I find it inconceivable that in this day and age any company in this country would STILL endanger children with hazardous working conditions. WHAT IS WRONG WITH THESE PEOPLE!

SSN

Robert B, my friend, they are Fascists and greedy bastages at that, they do not care about who works for them or what their products do to their workers or their consumers. Child labor is cheap, like slave labor, the less they have to pay the more profit goes in their pockets. THAT is what is wrong with these people.

Signed. NPR had a story about this, a young boy had several of his fingers cut off by one of the tobacco planting machines. Because he was a migrant worker, he got a whopping $100 for his pains.

Very unnerving, such practices should be stopped, there is no excuse to use the young in profits over humanity.

Children under 16 should not have to labor in fields. Communities should provide for children whose families can't do so.
