Certainly the GOP has become the property, of the hard-right fundamentalists..and many fiscal conservatives, and Christians are finding themselves 'left behind' (yep thats a pun),by the Reps. The question now is "where now for the GOP?".How can it become a party of mass appeal?Certainly not by appealing, to a base of witless or greed based fundamentalists.Pro-life and homophbia does not have a big enough appeal,to win an election.Neither can the reps, win mass support,by pandering to a narrow elite. The masses have been hit hard, by free market produced recession.
In this new reality,we will possibly witness, the ascendancy of Keynesian economics, which to my mind, are infinitely superior to bogus market based fiscal policy. This is social democrat territory, not GOP territory.
The GOP have also been rumbled ,as regards morality..and the last election saw the fracturing,of the Christian alliance,as people realised that there is more to Christianity ,than what Falwell vomits out. They should have realised it anyway, and have to take responsibility for they're homophobia opening the door for a quasi-fascist ,murderous regime..but hey "there is more rejoicing in heaven ,over the moral conversion,of one conservative etc...."so lets be upbeat.
I predict that the GOP,will stay in the hands of the nutters, who will now solidify they're control over the party, particularly as more moderate cons, jump ship.
"Jesus says kill a queer"could well be the GOP election mantra in 2012.
I mean, the complete failure of this party,is hardly upsetting to a socialist like me..but lets see if Obama has the balls to do what the economy , people and world really needs-ethical foreign policy, world class policies on the environment,a first class health service for all,and an economy based on redistribution, public investment and community ,where the working people get a fair share, and the fat cat ceos aren't screwing it up for everyone else.

Noted! At least a few people saw the light! In my opinion, they have made the correct choice. I wish everyone possessed the sense that these people have shown. They are absolutely correct.
