Unfortunately, solar costs too much - on the grid. That is why solar is almost exclusively off the grid - the high cost of wiring infrastructure exceeds the high cost of solar cells.

For example, the small solar panels that people plug into their car 'cigarette lighter'/power adaptor are perfect - the solar panel keeps the battery charged. At the relatively low cost of twenty bucks, if it means your car is going to start, it pays for itself over and over again.

Yes, we need solar cells - cheap, not a hundred grand just to run a home, not counting several million to run a car! I thought the Stimulus Bill was alternative energy . Where did all the money go?
