You have to give President Obama credit for actually trying to keep a campaign promise to close the detention center at Guantanamo Bay.

Creates jobs...but what are the security risks for the country....

One of the primary security risks is the interpretation of the judge that decides what we do with any of them who are found not guilty. Once in the US, they are subject to US law. Some could end up being US citizens, depending on the judge and their decision on each case.

This will not, and does not, reduce the use of Gitmo as a supposed terrorist recruiting tool. Temperatures in Cuba are enjoyable most of the time and the facility there is at least as good as the one in Illinois. These guys are going to be thrilled during an Illinois winter. To the extent that Gitmo motivates terrorists, Illinois should be even better for their recruiting.

More jobs, less frustrated people, and a more secure country- a good idea that will finally come into place.

I don't believe the detainees should stay in our country. They should close Gitmo & send the detainees home to their country so they could put them in prison for the terrible things they did to the USA.

Whether innocent or guilty, those tortured for years at Gitmo will be anti-US. Who would not be? the most innocent, Spiritual person in the world would be reduced to insanity or crazed hatred from the endless types of mental and physical torture that has been perfected and used there...

Agreed Theresa, why keep these illegal aliens in the states... whereas they were the masterminds in reaping a reign of terror in the US.. The US should really put the foot down to who it lets into the country, especially those of know terorist origins...

Will they ever get a fair trial? What about the ones who are innocent? Some detainees were just picked off the street or handed in for rewards.
