This is so important that society recognize the link between domestic violence and animal cruelty. Many women choose to stay in an abusive relationship rather than leave their animals.

This is wonderful and so very necessary. It's bad enough when women & children have to leave their home because of abuse but when they must leave their beloved companions to the tender mercies of an abusive partner? That's down right traumatic!!!

So many women put up with domestic violence for the "sake of the kids" and I would bet that even more feel fear over the pets. And if you haven't been there, do not presume to criticise. This is very good news and I sure hope it helps women to make that frighntening decision . Go Texas!

This is wonderful because I truly believe that women would seek out shelter if they could take their pets. they know the children are welcome but yes, the animals are a big concern too.

They should all include pets--pets are part of our families and are needed for the mental and emotional well being of everyone. If children or mother is being abused it is obvious the family pet is in danger of being abused as well and should be included to be protected and sheltered with the rest of the family.

Pets are family and should be allowed in shelters everywhere. This is better for the animal shelters,as it doesn't over populate them, which means less euthanasiations and even though you don't have a home at least you have someone with you to love and take care of and that loves you. They're that spot of joy that's always there to remind you that life isn't all bad and that there is always hope.
