Fears Voiced Over Obama And The Jewish Vote

Each election cycle Republicans predict a major shift in the Jewish vote and Democrats end up scoffing all the way to winning upwards of 75 percent at the ballot box. This year, however, something is different.

A nice smile doesn't mean that a person can be trusted, does it? Thanks everyone for noting this story. Democrats have alot at stake this election year.

as we clinton supporters have been saying all along... not only is she the only candidate ready to take over on day one... she is the only democrat running who is able to win in the general election...

Using the Holocaust to
Smear Obama

I never thought I'd see the day when the Holocaust would be used as a tool for "gotcha" politics.

[snip]

The men who liberated Buchenwald were heroes, plain and simple. That includes Barack Obama's great uncle. In their march across Europe, the 89th Infantry Division suffered over 1,000 casualties, with over 300 men killed. In their liberation of Buchenwald, they put an end to one of the most horrible concentration camps of the 20th century. We must honor them, just as we must remember each and every victim of the criminal Nazi regime.

To those who continue to use this story to damage Barack Obama, I have a simple question: have you no shame? You attempts to diminish his uncle's service for your own political gain says a lot more about you than it does about Barack Obama.

Holocaust Museum confirms, Obama's uncle's Infantry Division liberated Buchenwald

by John Aravosis (DC)

Apparently, the Republicans are trying to make political hay out of Auschwitz. Well, last week was Hitler, so why am I surprised.

Yesterday, Obama mentioned that his uncle, Charlie Payne, helped to liberate the Nazi concentration camp at Auschwitz. The Republicans were hoping that they could catch Obama lying - that maybe Obama never had an uncle who helped liberate the Jews in Europe. Well, in fact, Obama's uncle (his grandmother's brother) helped liberate the Nazi camp at Buchenwald (Obama mixed up Auschwitz and Buchenwald). So the Republicans (and a few Hillary fans emailed me as well) are trying to allege... what exactly? That Obama's family did in fact help save the Jews in Europe, but Obama got the name of the camp he liberated wrong? Okay. I'm not quite sure how that gives us any insight into Obama (other than his uncle is a hero) - I don't really know the difference Auschwitz, Buchenwald, Bergen Belsen and the rest of the camps. I just know that I'd be damn proud if a member of my family helped liberate them. Not to mention, according to the US Holocaust Museum, Obama's uncle's Infantry Division didn't just liberate one of the camps that made up Buchenwald. It was the first Nazi concentration camp liberated by US troops in all of Germany. That's pretty amazing.

I had an uncle who helped the Jews escape in the northern Greece during the German/Italian occupation. I only learned the story this past year from my mom. His name was John (Yiannis) Papatsoris, and he was my grandma's brother (he was also the uncle of my famous uncle in Greece, Yiannis Haralambopoulos, who was the defense minister and foreign minster (among other jobs) under Papandreou). That side of the family has one hell of a history to live up to - it's the same blood line that leads back to our other famous ancestor who fought in the revolution against the Turks. Anyway, this particular Uncle John went to the Greek West Point (Sxoli ton Evelpidon) and was with the Greek xorafilaksi (we think it's the military police) - he was in charge of all of northern Greece during the German occupation. Apparently he helped a few too many Jews escape northern Greece, so the Germans showed up one day and told him he was going to be excecuted. He asked if he could say good-bye to his wife, they said yes, so when he got to his home, rather than going inside, he walked around the side of the house and ran. He eventually caught a boat and escaped.

Anyway, I'm damn proud of my uncle. Sure, I had to call mom to get all the facts straight, but that doesn't lessen what he did (nor does it lessen me). So I imagine Obama is damn proud of his uncle too, and the role he played in helping save the Jews in Europe. So kudos to Obama. I hope the Republicans keep talking about this story every day between now and the elections so every Jew in America learns that Obama's uncle helped liberate the Jews in Europe. Oh, and extra points for reminding Americans that Obama is a "real American" too - he has family who fought in WWII. If that's the best shot the Republicans have, well God bless them and give 'em a bigger microphone.

PS I'm trying to think of an analogy for this story, and I think I have it. It would be like Hillary alleging that in Bosnia she had to duck because of sniper fire and in fact she had to duck because of rocket-propelled grenades being fired at her. Kind of wouldn't have been so big a scandal had that been her only error.

Double lie! -- Obama has no uncles. His mother Anna was an only child, and Obama Sr. had two sisters.

Oh, it's not a lie, his campaign says he made a mistake -- he just made another gaffe in the growing collection of documented Obama's gaffes -- it was his great-uncle and it was a sub-camp of Buchenwald, but who cares about these little details, right?

Everyone is supposed to believe Obama, there are 57 states he visited. He believes in one America, as long as Michigan and Florida are not part of that country. A change we can believe in, as long as it is a DNC run country and not one accountable to all Americans. Unfortunately the way Obama has run his campaign you cannot tell if he is a republican or a democrat.
I wonder what country that is; My flag has 50 stars which two of represent Michigan and Florida. The change we can believe in is one that gives the power of the government back to the people. It is not the Obama America but the Clinton America that is about real change.
As many of my ancestors used to say, he speaks with a forked tongue.

What's next from this guy? We have heard everything but alien encounters from this man. His credibility is shot with me. I had no idea who he was in the beginning, but the more I hear the more I want no part of him.

Blue, everyone uses the words "great uncle" and "great aunt" if they're NOT specifically talking about an regulary aunt or uncle. I have quite a few of mine still alive, and I use the words with MUCH respect on cards, letters, notes.....one of which I write email to daily. So, YOUR family traditions are not that of ALL people.

Anyhow, I'm of the belief that you don't live your life on your family's laurels - just as I've held EACH and every Kennedy to their own achievements & downfalls, I hold others, INDIVIDUALLY, to theirs. That's wh I will NOT listen to people who want to push Bill Clinton & his politics onto Hillary. I agree, Kristi......I'm much rather be reading about something Obama has done than his GREAT uncle.

Do you think maybe we can find some descendant of George Washington to run for US President, too??

Thanks, Kristi!

Here's the voice of a Jewish New Yorker. Obama cannot be trusted when it comes to maintaining a US commitment to the state of Israel. A commitment like ir or not that is advantageous strategically to any US incursions in the region. While McCain wants to keep the war going does continue to keep Israel's security in jeopardy )blame the Jews) at least I KNOW FOR SURE where he is coming from. Blue, if anyone is using the Holocaust for political gain it's Obama in a disgraceful effort to win votes from the Jewish community and I resent it. I would rather vote for LBJ in his current state than vote for Obama.

Blue, one mans heroism says absolutely nothing about his other relatives. Between 1861-1865 brothers fought against brothers, sons against fathers in the War of Northern Aggression. What Obamas uncle did is no reflection with what Obama will say or do which is just about anything to anybody to get himself elected. He patronizes every single group of people that he talks to, after a while one set of promises is going to start impinging on another set of promises. He just cant get away from the 20 plus years of associations with OUTRIGHT RACISTS AND DOMESTIC TERRORISTS which he could never convince me that did not hold such views himself or he would not have considered these people true friends they would have only been people that he knew. So take the UNCLE STORY and put it where it belongs in the TRASH.

I think the uncle story is non-relevant to Obama's own merits. Hey, if I had a story like that to tell, I'd do it, too! I still think the guy's a good choice (I'm still stuck between him and Hillary). Personally, I think anyone's better than another Republican like dear Georgie Bushy.

God the Republicans are scumbags. We're talking about a party populated by people like David Duke, a party led by the grandson of a major Nazi financier, a party that was the welcome home of Strom Thurmand, and oh yeah, Mary Kay LeTourneau's dad (look it up, especially the Nazi tie in from the family) and endless other freaks, and they have the !@$%# nerve to pretend to care about the Holocaust.
Of course it is pretend with them, the GOP inhuman ghouls jump at any chance to attack their opponent, no matter the context, no matter truth, decency or the American way.
The RNC @!%! should be exported from our shores.

Carol, It was less well known that quite a number of the politicians who won elections as Democrats were secret Communists or working closely with the Communist Party. Hugh DeLacy, who was fired from his job as a lecturer at the University of Washington when he began working with the Washington Commonwealth Federation and running for office with WCF support, served several terms on the Seattle City Council and two terms in the US Congress without disclosing his Party connections. Other Communist Democrats served in the state legislature and held various other political offices. The Democrats have also elevated West Virginia Senior Senator Robert Byrd to the top of the Party, Calling Senator Byrd the conscience of the senate. What? Lets examine the history of Democratic Senator Robert Byrd, the man Democrats honor and call the conscience of the Senate.
A sheet can come back to haunt you even if a ghost isn't wearing it! A response to your latest batch of Byrd droppings...

"The Klan is needed today as never before and I am anxious to see its rebirth in West Virginia... It is necessary that the order be promoted immediately and in every state in the Union. Will you please inform me as to the possibility of rebuilding the Klan realm of W. Virginia?" Byrd's letter to the Klan's Imperial Wizard, 1946.

Byrd on "race mongrels." "[I will] never submit to fight beneath that banner [the American flag] with a Negro by my side. Rather would I die a thousand times, and see Old Glory trampled in the dirt never to rise again, than to see this beloved land of ours become degraded by race mongrels, a throwback to the blackest specimen from the wilds." 1947 letter by Robert Byrd. (Source: "The Democrats' Lott," Wall Street Journal, 23 December 2002.) Byrd also filibustered the 1964 Civil Rights Act.
"If Byrd said he thought the Klan's main job was fighting communism, he's either not being honest about why he joined - or he was a Klansman a lot longer than he now wants to admit," said the World War II vet.
In The last Election Democratic Party Presidential Hopefuls gathered round Presidential Candidate Reverend Al Shartpton. A man elevated to the top of the Democratic Party for his fight against racism. Really? Let us examine Mr. Sharpton ,
The Democrats' moral compass:
"Picketers from Mr. Sharpton's National Action Network, sometimes joined by 'the Rev.' himself, marched daily outside the store, screaming about 'bloodsucking Jews' and 'Jew bastards' and threatening to burn the building down." -Fred Siegel, "Democrats Embrace 'Impresario of Hatred," Wall Street Journal, editorial page, 2/29/2000. Freddy's was later burned by an arsonist who apparently "took Mr. Sharpton's words about ousting the 'white interloper' to heart" (Siegel). The fire killed seven people: five Hispanics, a Guyanese, and a Black security guard whom Sharpton's people had called a 'cracker lover.' "
Now led by the Conscience of the Senate Robert Byrd and by Ted Kennedy. Democrats are trying to create spin on their attempts to destroy the Majority rule Government we have in the USA.
Senator Robert Byrd who filibustered the senate back in the 60’s when he opposed the Civil Rights act” is now opposing President Bush’s African American, Christian Faithful nominees to the Federal court.
Democrats rallied to the side of artists who produced such disgusting anti Christian so called art with taxpayer money. One example is Piss Christ. A n Exhibit that showed a crucifix with Christ submerged in a tank of urine.
Jill Singer (Herald Sun, 9-10-97 ) that the closure of Serrano's exhibition demonstrates that Victorians do not support "Freedom of expression”. She claims " Its easy to grasp the dollar value of art, but we also need to understand the value of artistic freedom".
Continuing her argument against the closure she says "that just the name 'Piss Christ' is offensive not the painting itself". She also claims that people can choose to look or not to look and society should support freedom of expression, not being like the National Gallery and censoring the painting by taking it down Feminist, Germaine Greer (Herald Sun,14-10-97) labeled the National Gallery as "pathetic" She believes the gallery should never have made that move.

Many in the leftist media offered the support of art, which displayed Mother Mary in cow Dung, and other offensive uses of Christian Symbols and the Holy Bible. Not finding the desecration of the Bible or Christian symbols offensive. Yet, these same so-called first amendment fighters find any improper sue of the Koran offensive. Democrats and the left media crying foul against our military when it is alleged that the Koran was improperly handled by the military. Newsweek, which is owned by the Boston Globe even, rushed the story of the Koran to print without any proof the story was true. Why hasn’t Newsweek and the Democrats been equally upset about the burning of Churches in the Middle East, the murder of Christians by Muslims in Africa. Muslims desecrating age-old relics of the Buddhists?
It seems that we have a Democratic party that has become obsessed with power and wills ell out the morality of families, the safety of Israel, the safety of our troops, will defend Illegal aliens against the Minutemen and will ignore the lies that the media elite are telling about our military in order to regain power. So i ask you Carol who should be exported from our shores. Both the DNC@!% and the RNC@!% and we should all be voting for the best INDEPENDENT that will save this country and return us to CONSTITIONAL LAW and not what the POWERS that have been sitting in WASHINGTON for 30-40 or even 50 years sometimes feel is best for THEMSELFS. We need all of these IDIOTS out of OFFICE.

Yes Carol i am a REPUBLICAN and no i did not take OFFENSE to what you called me, i believe it was "Republicans are scumbags" and "inhuman ghouls". I only realized that you were insufficiently informed of your own PARTY'S FAULTS. I must say that i am a REPUBLICAN simply because i favor more CONSERVATIVE VALUES and not because of what my party has become. I will not be voting for John McCain in November. I will either vote INDEPENDENT or not at all. But when you decide to start slinging MUD make sure that you aren't FULLY COVERED YOURSELF before you do it, otherwise you make YOURSELF look FOOLISH.

Just recently spoke with an African-American woman who reminded me that the KKK was full of democrats. They were only one segment of the democrats. Other members of the democratic party were out fighting against such hate groups. So, in either party you're going to find good and bad. It's of matter of what we, the people are willing to tolerate that gives or takes away from such groups. Kevin, I'm not sure what you were trying to say in your last paragraph. Do you think it wrong for the US to be an ally of Israel? You do know that Israel is our only friend in the Middle-East who we need strategically in any incursions in the region. If we want to use Israel like we did in the Gulf War we have to give something back.

Actually Kevin those are not my words as mentioned.

The story is about Obama and the Holocaust.
The comment was to carry light on the Nazi Profiteers calling, "The kettle black".

It has been a favorite Republican tactic for the past 8 Bush Years. When guilty of the lowest of low, use your crime to pin on the objector.

The examples are endless. Like the famous Republican 'Trickle Down theory' of old it began at the top (Bush)in 2001, and has been used down to through the ranks.

I assume everyone has viewed the history of Prescott Bush fortunes made from the Holocaust.

The comment was only to point out others guilty of pre-empting financial gain from the Nazi's, while attempting to brush off their slime on those who do have a moral compass.

I agree the party lines are awash in corporate interest.
Instead of Rep. Dem. maybe we should decide what corp. we want ruling us.
Walmart, Phizer, Monsanto, etc...

However, this story is about Nazi's that are working hard to use their hidden crimes to discredit Obama. It is ludicrous and those heckling should be in jail for their past actions.

Ari Berman on Blacks, Jews & Obama - Nothing you didn't already know, but most Jews are gonna vote for the Democrat, same as always. The Jewish community's response to Barack Obama has received a lot of press and buzz in Jewish circles. Reflecting on the coverage, I'm reminded of what Ta-Nehisi Coates wrote recently in the pages of The Nation: "So much of what's been said about Barack Obama and African-Americans has been so shockingly wrong." The same applies to Obama and the Jews.
