Thanks River.. that is what it would take... plus focusing on the higher good and shifting peoples consciousness. Whatever happened to those who used to dye them purple? anyway hopefully this will stop.

I'm Canadian and I've sent a letter to the editor of the National Post, which is our big 'national' newspaper. I've copied it here for you guys to read:

Good for Paul Watson, the Sea Shepherd Society, and author Farley Mowat.
Mr. Mowat nailed it when he called the seizure of Watson's ship "an act of stupidity that typifies most of what the government has done in the Department of Fisheries, including the destruction of the cod fishery, including the towing to death of four sealers in the Gulf recently".
Loyola Hearn, Minister of Fisheries, has a personal vendetta against Paul Watson. This accounts for his statement "they're a bunch of money-sucking manipulators". Totally unprofessional and off the wall for the head of a government department to make personal attacks (against anyone).
He is using Watson as a scapegoat to deflect attention away from the government in the recent deaths of four sealers.
I would take the opinion of a Canadian icon like Farley Mowat, when he says Watson "is the most heroic Canadian of recent times", over any minister who simply currently happens to be in charge of a government department any day.
And since he obviously supports anti-sealing, so do I.

addendum: I was already a supporter of banning the seal hunt but I figured it would have more impact for readers to put it the way I did.

Kenneth, that is great.....a letter should go to the editor of the Globe and Mail as well. When Minister of Fisheries called Paul Watson" money-sucking manipulators" I thought he just included everyone that helps with other just important projects..like United Way, Heart and Stroke etc. Not a smart move of the minister.
