Got this one from PA Best Friends:

TV ALERT: March 27, ABC's Nightline will be investigating puppy mills!

ABC Correspondent Sharyn Alfonsi and investigators from Nightline travel the byways and back roads of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania - visiting numerous puppy mills and filming Main Line Animal Rescue's volunteers as they rescue breeding dogs and puppies from Lancaster County's notorious Amish commercial breeding facilities.

From Bill Smith, Main Line Animal Rescue

This promises to be a very special program. If you are involved in rescue, advocate on behalf of the millions of puppy mill dogs interned in our nation's commercial dog breeding facilities, or if you just simply love animals, you will not want to miss this.

Sharyn Alfonsi interviewed, on camera, an Amish breeder while touring his facility - a first for network television. With approximately 500 dogs housed on his property, this commercial breeder speaks openly about an industry cloaked in secrecy and suspicion - the cruel factory farming of man's best friend.

PLEASE tell your friends, your family, your coworkers - ABC Nightline investigates puppy mills - this Friday at 11:35 pm (Eastern Standard Time). Please take the time to forward this to all the rescues, shelters, and legislators in your area.

It has been almost one year since Oprah's puppy mill show aired. That program received the highest viewer response of any Oprah Show in years. Now we need to spread the word about this very special Nightline. Only by educating as many people as we can, will we be able to help these animals. And after you watch the program, please don't hesitate to contact ABC and Nightline to thank them for casting such a strong light on the plight of our nation's puppy mill dogs.

Friday's airing of Nightline's investigation of puppy mills is subject to breaking news. If for any reason it is not shown, it will air the beginning of next week. Please check listings for your time zone.

I have seen so much on the Amish and their unchristian attitude concerning their "livestock" and my heart breaks. I will watch but I don't think my mind will be changed.

While I appreciate Nightline doing this story, this didn't come close to showing the barbarity of what these Amish FTs do! I wish the reporter did a better job... for one, she didn't ask about or interview that FT's hired vet- if he had one, he has to by law... that's required even with livestock. The industries' secrecy could be her excuse but she could've gone through the list of these so-called AKC registered breeders from PA and visited them. I'm sure she'll find they're mostly Amish puppy farms in their typical horrid conditions, worst than the one shown on this story. Even with this, imagine 2ppl. "taking care" of over 200 dogs??!! Who bathes, grooms, brushes their teeth, exercise-- how many of those ridiculous caged tubes does he have? I only saw 2. Just the basics... it was a softball interview and the story was just 10min. long. I was disappointed.. don't think this will make an impact. :(

I missed seeing the show... Read the article, good info... Amish, Mennonite, non-religious, all the same in my opinion. Puppy Mills, or any mass-breeding facility should be made illegal. Profiting from the neglect and misery of living creatures is heartless.
The debarking method that is mentioned is shocking in itself; debarking in all forms should be illegal.
Livestock, whether pigs, cows, chickens, turkeys, etc. should have rights. "Live'stock says just that, a living, feeling being that has the right to live out his life as he chooses.
Yes there is a difference in animal rights and animal welfare; I am for animal rights.
“Science may have found a cure for most evils; but it has found no remedy for the worst of them all – the apathy of human beings.”

The story was only a little over 10 minutes long. The clip on this site is over 6 minutes so you're not missing much if you watch the clip. You can comment on the site as well... mention to keep doing these reports. Thank you all!

Noted. I was so mad when I read the article I thought I was going to blow bubbles. And to top it off the commentors that claim that athose of us that speak for the voiceless are pushing our morality on others just chapped my backside. And another claiming animals are property and have no rights......well,,,sad to say I hope he wales up one morning and discovers he life may depend on an innocent animal. GGGrrrr...howling mad.
