It has been proven in a number of scientific tests, that 500mg taken daily of Vitamin C can significantly reduce uric acid levels, and therefore reduce the onset of gout.

I heard gout was very painful. And I love taking vitamin c. So maybe I won't get it. I sure don't want it. Thanks for this info Adrian.

my dad has severe, debilitating gout. and unfortunately kidney disease. so, a lot of the treatments for one, can flare up the other. really sucks! i don't wish it on anyone.

Noted. Gout, indeed, is a painful and debilatating condition and in less informed times it was called 'the wealthy man's disease' because it was associated with rich foods that only those with means could afford to consume. Cortisone injectons into the affected joint helps for a few weeks but the cure is as miserable in the long term than a flare of gout is in the shorter course. Thank you, Adrian, for passing along a harmless source in the form of Vitamin C which does not store in tissue and may help ward off or alleviate gout.

Thanks Adrian for this! I suffer from gout in my toes and its no picnic. (Have already had to have one big toe removed due to gout/arthritic gangleons). I'll sure give this a try- (if it works it sure will beat having more surgery).

Thnx Adrian, I'll be sure to take Vitamin C from now on. BTW, I saw a report on Nightline last night and they said it id better to get vitamins from foods than supplements.

Noted Thank Adrian. I have heard that 250grams a day of Cherries, either fresh, tinned or in a jar, will slowly make a differance to gout. It wont work straight away but will make a bid change. It has been on talk back radio alot.

Black cherry juice also works very well for gout and arthritis.
