Every time we'd get a cold, mom'd go outside and pick a handful of peppermint leaves, put them in a bowl of hot steamy water, then drape a towel over our heads and make us stay under it until the vapers opened up our nasal passage ways. She'd let us come up for a breath of fresh-cold-air or to blow our noses, but she insisted that stay under the towel until the water turned tepid...THEN we were free to go! Good ol' "Dr. Mom"!! I'd turned out such a different person if not for her hand-me-down-home- remendies. God, I miss her. She loved peppermint tea, too. Thanks, Adrian!

I make old fashioned sun tea with peppermint and spearmint leaves fresh from my garden. I take about a handful of leaves and add it to a one gallon glass jar and let it sit all morning in the direct sunlight. I drink copious amounts of this on ice throughout the day, yummy!

The funky little place where I go to get local honey had some peppermint plants last week. So I bought a couple. You'd be amazed how delicious a drop or two of honey is on a fresh peppermint leaf!
