Starting Nov. 12, Wells Fargo's regulator, the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), will start to examine Wells under the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) to see if it is meeting the credit needs of its communities.

Tell Bank Cop to Fail Payday Lender Wells Fargo
From prisons to payday, Wells Fargo isn’t serving communities – it’s profiting from their pain.

Starting Nov. 12, Wells Fargo’s regulator, the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), will start to examine Wells under the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) to see if it is meeting the credit needs of its communities.

We need to tell the OCC that Wells Fargo should FAIL its CRA exam! Please use this form to send a letter to the OCC and Wells Fargo that will go into the bank’s official CRA file telling the OCC to fail Wells Fargo. Wells’ abuses will finally be a matter of public record.

Not all bankers are bad; not all petitions are good.

The argument here isn't particularly compelling. I'm all for closer scrutiny of the banks but not on the evidence presented here.

This isn't the only bank that's making a nice profit off of their customers. Signed.

Why now? When the banks wrecked the economy, Wells Fargo was in the drivers seat the whole time; they got a bunch of free bailout money for it with no strings attached. They failed to keep lending to consumers (anyone here try and get a mortgage lately?), and now, just because they make payday loans, there's a problem? They may not be popular, but payday loans didn't wreck the economy. We should have been keeping pressure on the banks and our government to loosen credit and hold those banks accountable for the Great Recession.

Luise, it is comment for the law to bring charges that can stick that are not the worst ones (e.g., tax evasion for Mafia bosses); thus this is one way to sanction Wells Fargo even if it isn't their worst offense. That is why most are choosing to sign.

First, thank you Nancy for the link, and JL for the post.
Second, no, this isn't the worst thing this bank (and many other banks) has done--but it's one way to get them scrutinized.
Third, it's way beyond time that we, as taxpaying American citizens stood up and let banks and corporations know that we are not blind to their bs and we don't intend to stay silent.

I pay Wells Fargo every month for years [mortgage] then for the privilege I am charged extra $75.00 every year the month our contract was signed. Now that Bank Cop has noticed they need to investigate many others and stop the bloodSucking frenzy in our banking system.
