No More Media for Murdoch

Rupert Murdoch — the guy who’s under investigation in England for phone hacking, influence peddling and bribery — wants to get his mitts on the Los Angeles Times and the Chicago Tribune1,2. These are the major papers in the nation's second- and third-largest cities (where, incidentally, Murdoch already owns TV stations).

Federal Communications Commission Chairman Julius Genachowski is trying to change the agency’s ownership rules to pave the way for Murdoch to get exactly what he wants. Worse, Genachowski and Murdoch are keeping this all very hush-hush, hoping you won't notice.3

These changes wouldn’t just benefit Murdoch. If the FCC proposal passes, one company could own the major daily newspaper, two TV stations and up to eight radio stations in your town. And that one company could be your Internet provider, too. What is the FCC thinking?!?

We can still stop the agency from taking this perilous step — but we have less than a month to do it.

By taking action, you’re joining a movement of millions who are working to stop big media from getting even bigger. Please take action today.

Signed and I wish I could sign about ten thousand times. Murdoch is wrangling to have even greater influence over American thinking and our institutions. I actually do think this guy wants to make our media his whipping boy, further destroying the fourth estate.

I wish all would see the most dangerous weapon in any act of war is propaganda. When the media is controlled they rule everything. So many people believe everything they see and hear on the TV. I get so frustrated trying to inform when you have main stream news all run by the same master telling people what they want to hear instead of what they NEED to hear. I so appreciate those of you who get the word out there because this issue is no conspiracy theory it's a full blown conspiracy FACT, a war in plain sight to steal the mind. Thank you so much. NOTED!

Rupert Murdoch qualifies as a "right wing bastard". And a heartless one at that. Even by right wing bastard standards. Given that Rupert Murdoch's twitters have slipped into an antisemitic usage: "Why is Jewish-owned press so consistently anti-Israel in every crisis?" He is playing the paradoxical Conservative game of supporting the state of Israel whilst at the same time suggesting Jews are liberals, and so untrustworthy that they would even betray Israel. So allowing the man to influence the media in the fashion he managed in the UK is a disaster. Just look at how Fox News seems to think everyone left of Mussolini is a liberal with it's we report gossip, lies and innuendo, you decide based on your deep-seated fears and prejudices . His minions in the UK are looking at prison terms and he was censured by a parliamental committee as unfit to run a company. So it should be evident that he should be barred from any media enterprises ever. The only thing good is that his son's are so incompetent that they will screw everything up so badly it'll fall apart.

Least anyone forgets, Rupert Murdoch also owns "National Geographic".

The FCC must not allow this creep to own any more newspapers, tv stations and radios stations. No more!

Murdoch is in trouble in England already. He shut down one of England's oldest newspapers because of some spying and letting out. Cannot remember all the details.

Must not allow Rupert to own any satellites. He charges extremely high fees.
