Obama's appointed FCC Chairman, Julius Genachowski, a guy who made a tidy profit from media companies, has an idea.He wants to allow media companies to consolidate & merge EVEN MORE, so we can get even less-diverse news opinions from a single source

I don't get my news from the media drivel masters so go ahead - JUST don't touch the independents. The regular news channels are already controlled by six firms so what's the point?

Media Consolidation, that is the most dangerous idea and a threat to all humanity. Worse then any and all weapons of mass destruction. TY

And then we'd learn if it lowers our IQ, right Vicky? Independent sources could also be at risk Michael. I agree Cheryl.

Other than subscribing to various journals or magazines, and too many of those are now owned by conglomerates, where is the safe news? It does take some work. Yes, Mister Murdoch would offer us such VERY simple answers. Rest those brain cells let FOX do your thinking. Maybe the Zombie world isn't that far fetched after all. Would we have any brains for them to eat?

Good points Kit--I can see the conformity which dooms us all like The Stepford Wives...

What a wonderful idea, a single news source, this way they can concentrate all their lies in a less costly manner and no one would have to suffer headaches from thinking for themself. Holy newspeak and thought crime batman this reeks of George Orwell's 1984

This would appear to help Julius Genachowski's portfolio - but thanks very much I will look at news from independent sources! (Argh Edwin - that is SCARY!)....

It would be simpler, but more ill informed, conservative and probably extremist. Thanks.

We here in Germany have seen this sh.., i.e. in the east, former GDR. they had just ONE news agency, known as ADN, which was the only authorised one in the country. You have to do everything in your power to avoid that from ever happening!

Rupert Murdoch has been determined by his own home country to be incompetent to manage a single newspaper, let alone a conglomerate. He should be deported and all his holdings in this country confiscated. And some want to give him MORE? What are they thinking (and what body parts are they "thinking" it with)?

Of course it would, but then we'd all be as complicit in the dumbing down of the world as is that human monster masquerading as a real person. As I look back at it, we've had our robber baron's and the evil they did which was mostly countermanded by the unionization of America, but I think the real descent into the pit was when Rupert brought his pile of dung across the ocean and began fertilizing the republican party with it. And they liked it. So much so that they are still buying it by the boatload. As bad as the Koch boys are and Adelson and Rove and others, Rupert leads the pack, he was first and is still worst. Ugly man, ugly business he is about. In every conceivable way.

Moral of the story: money and power corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely
