True enough any minority is under threat of imprisonment for even less than an ounce of marijuana. Using prisoners for labor could be okay - if they were able to accrue some reasonable funds and if they were asked to do some needed state services. The War on Drugs is just too expensive for this country to continue, though I do realize that there are many reasons for this that have to with IGG and not protecting the public. No one is forcing anyone to suddenly start taking any form of drug, just end this waste of time and money from our coffers. Most do know the background on this and others prefer to believe the propaganda. How many lives must be ruined for no good reason?

The number is already in the millions Kit--a major societal failure and part of why the US is not considered a world leader on human rights any more. You cannot currently send a star to Kit because you have done so within the last week.
Th worse offender is the United States with more human being languishing in prison than any other country. While the statistics indicate that crime is down, more are arrested for using or being around marijuana than almost any other "crime". Yes, I do realize the number is in the millions and that feeds into a now for profit prison system.

The tough on immigration voices have also added to the numbers since private prisons contract for most of that business of government now...CA used to pay the best--$1-2 per hour (used to pay restitution, health care co-pays, etc.) of those that paid (laws were violated courts found when no payment for labor was done)...Good points yet again Kit.

Every nation and civilization at one time or another has practiced slavery. There was as much bigotry and racism in the Northern states as there was in the South. Although the North got rid of their slaves the "coloreds" were not offered equal pay or invited to integrate into white society. Look at the lynchings and the burning of schools and orphanages during conscription in 1863 in New York City. Canada, although more reserved had just as much racism and bigotry as they did south of the border. I remember reading about Oscar Peterson and how he still found it pertaining to him; a well known jazz musician. Today it is the sex trade and Albania is the funnel into Europe and Great Britain; at least the last time I heard.
Would someone please give Quentin another bottle please and keep him in his naturally soused state. The man hasn't made a relevant movie since Kill Bill.
