Is Congress really going to let this happen?

If they don't act on "the sequester" by Friday, the cuts to cancer research funding could be devastating.

The sequester will indiscriminately slash spending across the entire government, without considering the effectiveness of the programs at risk.

Send a message to your Members of Congress immediately. Let them know they must protect funding for cancer research.

How bad could it be?

A “profound and devastating blow” for medical research
Director, National Institutes of Health

"The impact will be damaging immediately"
A cancer center CEO

"Fewer new grants would be approved"
Wall Street Journal

Please act now. This is not the time to halt the incredible breakthroughs we’ve made in fighting this terrible disease.

Thank you,

Erin O'Neill
Senior Director, Grassroots

noted, thx JL. Sorry but this is one I will not sign, I dont believe in govt funded cancer research. The huge amounts of $$ usually go to the wrong organizations, those who are in bed with Big Pharma. They and their researchers want nothing else but continue making money and researching over and again what's been already researched 1000s times, while blocking alternative methods and cures that have proven effective but forced silent because it would not benefit the pharma industry!

..and that's not to mention the unnecessary horrific animal abuse and suffering involved in their research.

I can appreciate your perspective and those factors do apply to some, but by no means all, of the NIH funded cancer research. I fear the research into environmental and other factors increasing risk is what will be unfunded first.

Noted, liked, signed, twittered and google shared. The sad thing is, there are cures that the government and big insurance companies know about but refuse to release to the public because, you know, cancer is a trillion dollar industry. Wouldn't want someone to lose their millions just so a person can be cured and live to talk about it. Thanks J.L.

Thank you Henriette for posting the links to some promising but not yet proven research regarding a possible treatment that could work to cure at least a portion of cancer patients with one or more types of cancer (not all behave the same or respond to the same treatments).
