Have you seen the other side of murder? Xavier McElrath-Bey is living proof that "without parole" isn't a sentence to be levied lightly.

Isn't it much easier to just brand all murders with one label and not consider them as individuals or human beings with the potential to begin a new and positive life? Serial killers, or spree killers, I don't mind stamping them with a blanket rejection. Most of the time we never consider each case, who was the victim, who was the criminal and why do we have prisons? As a society is it our desire to use prison to rehabilitate and offer a new chance? Or are we fully committed to one bad deed casts a pall of permanent evil with no hope of any form of redemption? We have to decide this as a society, and by using private prisons we give our choices to those who gain a financial profit at the cost of each human life.
