Do You Know What PINK Smoke Over The Vatican Means?

These Catholic women released pink smoke over the Vatican to protest the church's ban on female priests. Not only does it send an important message of equality, it also looks really freaking cool.

Cool! Probably would have been a perfect protest action for CodePink if they were in Rome.

Good one Angie! I was thinking about why Catholics feel, or think, a preist (sp?) has to be filled by men. I have nothing against St. Francis but this is also a WOMAN'S WORLD!! We women have been fighting our way up the proverbial ladder since God created Eve with Adam's rib. Women are just as proficient, intelligent,talented....if not MORE SO, than MEN!! EQUAL RIGHTS =S WAVERING RIGHTS where WE are concerned. Sorry, gotta put my mega phone down and go to bed. Knight Knight! (My real name is Barb Knight.)

Thanks. It's about time the Catholic Church does some changes. As they said on the site, Jesus didn't exclude women.

I think the topic, not equality?
Why choose Christ's apostles of men only??
Respect and appreciation for women, is a mother and wife and sister and is life .
Noted, thanks .

So much for the commenter on one of the Pope articles who claims women don't even want to be priests.

Noted. Thanks, JL.
Allan's comment really got me laughing! This pink smoke plus the Nuns On A Bus tour should give the higher echelon in the Catholic church some food for thought.....oh, wait! I forgot how much they enjoy their Men's Only club and the power they acquire will be meaningless if women are allowed to join. Although a nice protest, I have pretty much grown bored with waiting for any change here.

Great story. Great idea. It's not going to happen in our life time but it should. Though I am not a fan of any religion, I do think women deserve a place at every table that exists, and anything less is not only discriminatory but unwise. Hence, my issue with religion in general, it has proven as an institution, over the millennia to be most unwise in virtually every thing it says and does. Even programs that help the poor, the sick, the disabled, the children and the needy ought come free of strings, but rarely do. We've killed more people on this planet over religious "differences", all man made, than for any other reason. Maybe a pink revolution would reverse that miserable record. It certainly couldn't be worse.

If the RC Church does not make changes by allowing priests to marry as they did about 600 years ago, and women ordained as priests, the numbers will continue to drop.
Try splitting from the RC Church as did the Anglicans (Church of England) where finally women were ordained, priests marry and the4 C of E is a little more progressive than the regressive old boys club in Vatican City.

If you've ever wondered about the Catholic Church , along with Islam, being stuck in the medieval period, just stop and think ,they still communicate with smoke signals and not only at Papal elections. Waving incense at services sending smoke signals to their non existent Gods. I have no idea how the smoke will find its way to Allah, Jehovah, et al, when high powered electronic radio waves have found only other universes, and even they ,so far, haven't received a reply. What was that Abe Lincoln said about fooling most of the people some of the time?

This is an excellent example of a protest for women equality. Religion is offering the least support of this moral to Women. This will allow people to think and question all religions viewpoints, since man created them. When will the harassment, rape, abuse, lack of freedom, choices, and disrespect will be alleviated for Women? Women=Men not Men>Women
