Very interesting! Just recently they made public for the first time a record on how many govt. requests for data they' ve received, now this! Should be interesting to follow this and any possible outcome. Thx

There are those who would say America has free press and not propaganda? Since the Patriot Act Americans' freedoms are reduced under the guise of terrorism threats. It scares the hell out of me that the government can now ask for Internet tracking on anyone with a warrant. Then add the NSL can insist the persons or groups the NSL want information from cannot reveal they received the request. Now that is really scary. Good for Google resisting the government request. Good for the SF Judge finding the NSL is infringing on our rights to know. Good for you JL for reporting this.

Very interesting, thanks. I assume (Yes, I know what happens when one assumes) that the law involved is part of the Patriot Act, for which we have G.W.Bush and his buddy, Dick Cheney to thank.

Yep and I would hazard a guess that the very people [only a small handful] who control the mainstream media are behind it. It's about control and power - money is merely an excuse.

So, finally. I don't know what took so long. Go Google. With the type of clout Google has it makes me wonder if anyone, or anything else, will ever be able to take a serious shot at stuff like this. I'm afraid we are becoming too comfortable with Big Brother tactics.
