So far only a prototype, this sci-fi replica of one of the earth's oldest brainless animals has its own 600-gallon swimming pool.

That is just too Cool!!! Who said there are no science students left in the US? I'm wondering how this "thingy" will clean oil spills? Maybe we can avoid that by shutting down all the ocean drilling. I can dream, can't I?

That is indeed the concern Angelika. Wonderful application Kit! At least it should show that methods only make the oil sink and document that instead of pretense of cleaning.

How interesting to think about. I only hope it will be put to constructive uses.

One day there will be no dangers in the ocean

Joy to the fishes in the deep blue sea.
Joy to you and me.

Remember that song from days gone by?

Lynn Anderson - Joy to the World Lyrics

From the Internet of course

Jerry Miles was a boofrog a very good friend of mine
I never understood a work he's said but I helped him drink his wine
You know we always had some
Singin' joy to the world all the boys and girls
Joy to the fishes in the deep blue sea joy to you and me
If I was the queen of the world I tell you what I would do
I'd throw away the cars and the bars and wars and make sweet love to you
Singin' joy to the world all the boys and girls
Joy to the fishes in the big blue sea joy to you and me

You know I love you baby I love to have my fun
I'm a high night flyer and a rainbow rider a strait shootin' son of a gun
I said a straight shootin' son of a gun
Singin' joy to the world all the boys and girls
Joy to the fishes in the deep blue sea joy to you and me
Joy to the world all the boys and girls joy to the world joy to you and me
Joy to the world all the boys and girls
Joy to the fishes in the deep blue sea joy to you and me
Joy to the world all the boys and girls
Joy to the fishes in the deep blue sea joy to you and me
Joy to the world all the boys and girls
Joy to the fishes in the deep blue sea joy to you and me

I hope jellyfish this size don't have predators, because if it gets eaten or swallowed there'll be some very sick fish out there with serious indigestion.

If we don't minimise our impact on the marine ecosystem

Interesting. Jellyfish are an amazing example of symbiotic co-operation between several organisms joined together for the common good of all. Gee, maybe we could learn something from it. BTW Sam jellyfish are a beloved delicacy of sea turtles and tiger sharks; another reason why they must be preserved as existing species.
