You are welcome Nicole and Mary. Willful ignorance and preferences for misinformation/disinformation disseminated by those with a financial interest and bias are indeed hard to understand.

Pretty soon there won't be any sand left for the public to bury their heads in. This is indeed upsetting news and it is not going to get better. Thank you Judy.

The people that deny global warming obviously have never been affected by any of the disasters or lived in any places that are being affected by it I have recently seen the films where African areas are just turning to desert and the people have to walk 4 to 10 miles to get water for themselves and their livestock They dont want to know because they are selfish people

noted thanks

"How quickly is land ice melting? Shrinking land ice glaciers, ice caps, and ice sheets contributed about half of the total global sea level rise between 1972 and 2008, but its contribution has been increasing since the early 1990s as the pace of ice loss has accelerated."

Quick, someone get this information to North Carolina as this 8 inch rise puts Mother Nature at the knife's edge of violating NC law which allows for ONLY an 8 inch rise, period. And they were serious. Though it will be interesting to see who they haul into court for causing this, it clearly violates the spirit and intent of their carefully considered, and ludicrous, law. Hoo, Mama Nature is going to get it now. Or maybe it will just be the NC Carolina coast. Maybe, as Pat Robertson would say, it is God's way of telling NC they ARE wrong in pursuing the course they are politically. Just another judgment Sunday. Hah.

The 1% will continue to deny man made global warming and climate change because they don't care. Greed has blinded them. Otherwise they would fear for the future of their own grandchildren and their great great grandchildren. Greed has poisoned their souls the same way they have poisoned the very air that their future heirs will breathe and the water they will drink.

You can't eat or drink gold.

the 1% don't care because they figure they can buy wharever they wanr so whatever happens they will always be on top - they don't realize they are include in the extinctions they are causing (& all of us if we don't cut down, drastically on our energy usage and population growth!)

Adding my thanks for posting, JL. Very well done graphs and explanation in the article. While so many don't understand how the greedy, soul-less wealthy could ignore this, I insist that they have plans to make sure they're on higher ground. So many mistakenly put their faith in a gov't that's ever more complicit with inhuman corporations and trans-national corps.

I live on the Island of Oahu. There is an area called Ewa that is as flat as a table top. It is made of ancient coral. It is 27 feet above sea level. There is only one way that this could have formed. The last time global temperatures were higher that they are now this area was under water. These Hawaiian Islands are volcanic. Once they stop forming they start sinking back into the ocean. When we have melted all the ice, this area will be under water again. Of course, D R Horton and Schuler Homes are building house there as fast as they can.

Thanks for this very useful article and link.

To the person who enquired about whether 1c degree could have a significant impact on our earth's climate, consider, what happens when one's own body temperature fluctuates.... what happens?
