Thank-you Lyn~Signed w/comment. Heart for the farm animals and those protecting them.

"We must fight against the spirit of unconscious cruelty with which we treat the animals.  Animals suffer as much as we do.  True humanity does not allow us to impose such sufferings on them.  It is our duty to make the whole world recognize it.  Until we extend our circle of compassion to all living things, humanity will not find peace."  ―Albert Schweitzer, The Philosophy of Civilization

"The basis of all animal rights should be the Golden Rule:  we should treat them as we would wish them to treat us, were any other species in our dominant position."  ―Christine Stevens

"The greatness of a society and its moral progress can be judged by the way it treats its animals." -- Mohandas K. Gandhi

"Isn't man an amazing animal? He kills wildlife - birds, kangaroos, deer, all kinds of cats, coyotes, beavers, groundhogs, mice, foxes and dingoes - by the million in order to protect his domestic animals and their feed. Then he kills domestic animals by the billion and eats them. This in turn kills man by the millions, because eating all those animals leads to degenerative - and fatal - health conditions like heart disease, kidney disease, and cancer. So then man tortures and kills millions more animals to look for cures for these diseases. Elsewhere, millions of other human beings are being killed by hunger and malnutrition because food they could eat is being used to fatten domestic animals. Meanwhile, some people are dying of sad laughter at the absurdity of man, who kills so easily and so violently, and once a year, sends out cards praying for Peace on Earth." — David Coats

This most significant global discussion of our planet's future and issues of sustainability and what we want for our future has to include the well-being of farm animals since so much depends on this matter. By raising and treating farm animals humanely, seems to solve so many of our planets problems- by ending large intensive farming operations which treat animals like machines rather than living beings with needs and feelings- we at the same time will improve the lives of so many people who are family farmers who will not be forced off their lands, and also we will be putting an end to the enormous environmental degradation and contamination that factory farms are responsible for, and improving our health at the same time due to less pollution and contaminants.

Thanks Lyne. Compassion for farmed animals seems to be at the bottom of the animal list but they shouldn't even need to be worried about, they should be properly looked after without us asking for it.

no animal should ever have to endure the abuse and neglect of farm animals in this country. they live in squalor, are beaten often, hooked up to contraptions making them unable to move more than two steps, and the calves....the life they live from the day of their birth is in isolation in boarded boxes, and in total darkness. that is what makes the VEAL people consume. if i come back as a cow in my next life, i would choose to be killed than to endure this torturous life.

Billions of animals are suffering right now in industrial farms, confined for life, most without the space to even stand up. But today, YOU can do something about it.

Help us ensure that the government includes the wellbeing of farm animals at the United Nations 2012 Earth Summit in Rio, the most significant global discussion on the planet’s future.

Our elected representatives in Canada have every reason to listen. When we choose kinder farming — it’s not only animals that benefit. Animal-friendly farming has an important role to play in protecting farmers' livelihoods and precious natural resources. Animal-friendly farming is better for animals, people and the planet.

By influencing the Earth Summit, we can help save billions of animals from intense and life-long cruelty.

Government preparation for the summit starts now, so please act today.
