"In the study, Ayyalusamy Ramamoorthy and colleagues point out that turmeric has been used for centuries in folk medicine to treat wounds, infections, and other health problems. Although modern scientific research on the spice has burgeoned in recent years, scientists until now did not know exactly how curcumin works inside the body.

Using a high-tech instrument termed solid-state NMR spectroscopy, the scientists discovered that molecules of curcumin act like a biochemical disciplinarian. They insert themselves into cell membranes and make the membranes more stable and orderly in a way that increases cells' resistance to infection by disease-causing microbes."

I was aware of many spices that promote good health. Curry powder, which it a family of turmeric, has medicinal properties. Many types of peppers promote good digestion, aid in increasing metabolism, and actually settle the stomach. This is interesting and thanks for the article. It makes sense, since spices have been used by people for hundreds or thousands of years, discovered their healing value, since present day medications were not even invented back then.

There is a stock of wealth and goodness in natural remedies..We should never discount them..but rather combine them with other resources..in a way that each will compliment the other and help in healing and wellness..

Its healing at the cell level - People who suffer from Auto-immune disease may can get reduced pain due to the turmeric reduces inflammation at the cell level thru out the body. Its also medicinal for minor cuts - the first thing I put on cuts is a dab of Turmeric and than apply pressure with a cotton ball. Within a few mins the bleeding stops and the cut heals quickly. Heaven sent!!

Really interesting Dee. Are we talking about turmeric in its processed form or in a more natural state before processing?

I am in need of a natural antibiotic right now. Have an infection in my jaw and hope turmeric will help. Am allergic to antibiotics and am grasping at straws.
