"On Sunday night, Rensselaer County Sherrif's say 17-year-old twin boys, Alex and Zach Rohloff, were killed after ATVs they were driving collided head on.

"I was getting a lot of calls saying that he died. I couldn't believe it," said Sean Madigan, Zach's friend.

Sherrif's said it's likely the boys did not see each other as they approached a hill and both were not wearing helmets.

Zach would have been a senior next year at Hoosic Valley. Principal Patti Sawyer said Zach was doing well in the QUESTAR III Collision Tech program.

"Right now, we are struggling with what happened. Zach was full of life and he will always be remembered in the halls of Hoosic Valley," said Sawyer."

Very sad indeed. I don't suppose anyone took the responsibility to send these boys to an ATV safety course?

Sadly there have been numerous deaths around here at least..as I I sure elsewhere with these ATV's..Most don't even wear helmets..
They do enforce a safety course in a few counties around here..also there are penalties is one is driving without the proper safety attire..or in areas where they should not be..speeding..age appropriateness..But the worst part is the parents themselves don't always take these simple safe steps..or even enforce it on their children..

I have seen very young children..barely able to operate them safely..yet whizzing around on them..no helmet..nothing..
It is heartbreaking..and a horrible hard lesson to learn..once they have died..
