"Michael J. Lohnes, 25, of Hoosick Falls faces charges of aggravated cruelty to animals, third-degree burglary and criminal mischief, all felonies; and overdriving, torturing and injuring animals, a misdemeanor under state Agriculture and Markets Law, according to the indictment.

He remains in the Rensselaer County Jail pending arraignment next week.

Earlier this month, Lohnes appeared before County Judge Andrew Ceresia twice to accept a plea deal in the case but backed out at the last minute. Lohnes, who was wanted on various unrelated warrants when arrested in January, allegedly broke into a Hill Road barn owned by his cousin and attacked Skye, a 17-year-old bay horse stabled there by owner Dawn Feathers, who has called the horse her pet.

The animal suffered 18 to 20 wounds, including slashes to the neck and stab wounds to its hind quarters, officials have said."

Poor Skye. This S.O.B. needs to get the strictest, most severe, punishment they can give him!! He's lucky I don't live closer so I could run him down in my electric wheelchair for taking Skye away from Dawn!! She'll never be the same without Skye...sadly noted. Thanks Dee.
