"Daidzin inhibits human aldehyde dehydrogenase 2 (ALDH-2), which metabolizes alcohol into acetaldehyde. Inhibiting ALDH-2 promotes the accumulation of acetaldehyde, which has aversive effects. A recent test of a synthetic ALDH-2 inhibitor (CVT-10216) on rodents shows that it reduces drinking and prevents relapse by increasing acetaldehyde while drinking and later decreasing dopamine in the brain region that controls relapse during abstinence."

My goodness, Dee, is this plant finally good for something? It was considered a real pest when I was a kid... Thanks!

Sure would be awesome if this works! I know someone who really needs it and needs for it to not interfere with other things or harm anything. Thanks!

Kudzu, known as "elephant ears," is also delicious to eat!! Mama would take me with her and she'd go over and cut the kudzu off the vine and take a whole bunch home, rinse it off several times in cold water, then, tear the leaves in quarter size to fit into the pot, stems and all. She'd add about 2 cups boiling water, salt to taste, let it boil for five-ten mins until stems were soft, then drain the water and served it in a deep pot--or sometimes right after dumping the water out--it tastes like spinach and I LOVE Spinach. Thnx Dee!! .

This sounds great, I hope it works too! Alcoholism is causing a lot of grief in my family. Most treatments are expensive and costly. Alcoholics pull a person into ruin. If this were true, genuine help would exist.
