"In a 33-page court statement made public on Tuesday, the Central Intelligence Agency said the documents contained sensitive information "that implicates intelligence activities, sources and methods, and information relating to the foreign relations and activities of the United States."

Last month the Department of Justice revealed details of a report by a CIA inspector general that outlined methods used during interrogations of Al-Qaeda suspects in the midst of anti-terror measures during the presidency of George W. Bush, including threats of rape of family members of detainees.

The release sent shock waves through Washington, and it was followed by Attorney General Eric Holder announcing he had named a prosecutor to probe the alleged CIA prisoner abuse.

Although the most controversial tactics have been ordered halted by President Barack Obama, the US spy agency said the documents were too sensitive to release because they detailed "the locations of CIA intelligence activities overseas and the assistance provided by certain foreign governments."

Down through the ages, National Security is always the excuse. I was just reading about the French Revolutions and the Jacobins and Robspierre (like BushCo in a prior incarnation). Same themes, over and over. History really does repeat itself.

Gee, for a minute I thought there was really going to be an investigation. Wishful thinking.

Deception conceals the truth, but 'not' forever!

Keep up the excellent work Dee, and keep us informed concerning the continuing moronic secrecy that leads us towards public disaster!!!

When I became the 30th Note on this story, I had the priviledge of watching it go to Care2 Front Page.

Roseann is quite right history keeps repeating itself and we learn nothing from it! It leads me to beleive that these secrecy nuts are interestined in the preservation of their own nests! Are they so arrogant that they believe their dirty secrets are in fact secrets or their codes are not read by those that have a mind to. Hitler thought his Enigma code machine would conquer all and as they say the rest is history. As access to the Pentagon systems can be gained by a hacker with variuos problems in the UK (Shame on the US for vindictively extraditing this disturbed young man! You shoui=ld have given him a meadal for exposing your lax security!) THen is it not reasonable to suggest that the Russians, NorthKoreans Chinese, UK, Japan France Israel, Iran or any other state that you care to mention is actually reading your emails and secret data at this very minute and probably having a good laugh at your arrogant stupidity as I'm sure you do as you read theirs!Anything you attempt to suppres becomes the fuel of suspician and generates yet more garbage to throw at you. If any time was ripe for honesty it is now. Whitehall and the Kremlin are probably recycling your "secrets" as lavatory paper at this time!

The ONLY "secrets" they are trying to keep, are, the SECRETS OF WHAT IS REALLY GOING ON, from the American People.
They are trying to keep "secrets" from US, from you and me and the average Citizen.
And of course, quash any deserved investigation resulting in lengthy jail sentences for going against iron, totally-spelled-out and inflexible provisions of the U.S. Constitution.....

There are NO, repeat, NO "secrets" vital to be kept from "other governments" or hostile entities. NONE of any kind whatsoever. That is a MYTH they want you to believe.

The entire PURPOSE of torture, waterboarding, etc., is NOT, repeat, NOT, repeat again, NOT to "get information".
The detainees were largely picked up at RANDOM; the U.S. Army offered BOUNTIES for anyone "turned in"; people turned in neighbors whom they didn't like, clan members they had a quarrel with, or just anyone poor and helpless who couldn't fight back. For money, a very large sum of it in a poor economy. $5,000 in U.S. cash.
These people were ordinary sheep-herders, etc. They "knew" NOTHING.
Just the same as the medieval witch-hunters wanted to EXTRACT FALSE CONFESSIONS that their victims had "danced with the Devil Himself"; so the torture scenario is designed to EXTRACT THE STORY THE TORTURERS HAVE ALREADY MADE UP THEIR MINDS THEY WANT TO HEAR.
NO "secrets" there!
It doesn't MATTER that NO "evidence" is obtained; or that a phoney "confession" extracted by torture won't stand up in any court.

TORTURE is SPECIFICALLY designed to:
1] Terrorize US, we who are PAYING FOR THE MIDDLE EASTERN WARS WITH OUR TAXES, make us imagine that there is A REAL DANGER HERE; and our wonderful govt is doing its very best to "protect" us from this "danger" story it has MADE UP.

2] Torture is ALSO specifically designed to
TERRORIZE THE POPULATIONS OF BOTH THIS COUNTRY AND OTHER COUNTRIES, to FEAR the govt of the United States. SEE WHAT WE CAN DO TO YOU, IF YOU EVEN THINK ABOUT RESISTING -- IF YOU EVER EVEN DARE TO OPPOSE OUR GOD-LIKE POWERS!!!

More DISGUSTING than you believed possible, right? And we call ourselves a DEMOCRACY????????????? our values we want to promote..........
