An inquest heard police ignored reports of abuse over several years.

A jury heard failings by police and councils meant Ms Piklington was never assessed by social workers, though they were aware she had "suicidal thoughts".

This is an outrage. Bullying is a hate crime, and should be prosecuted as such, especially when it followa such an obvious pattern. There should be ZERO TOLERANCE for bullying. Actually it is illegal in some countries, such as Norway and New Zealand, according to some research I did a few years ago.

This is not only sad, not only something people should know, not only a hate crime, but yet 'again', as we see, time after time, a very dark, shady, jaded aura surrounded the people with mental health Not being taken seriously once again, only to be pushed aside, as if they don't matter. It is unbelievable that this still happens in today's society, but yet it continues to do so. All then, trying to be covered up and for what purpose? The people who are supposed to be the 'Caretakers' of the public, see and know what is happening, do Nothing, and Allow for such hiddeous Crimes to happen. The Police were Aware of this, and do Nothing?? if you can't trust your police to help, then who can you trust? My heartfelt Blessings to this family. May they now Rest in Peace.

The mental and emotional health of a person is often judged by the ability to develop and maintain meaningful social relationships with a variety of people of both sexes. But how could these sadly deceased persons ever maintain meaningful social relationships with their bullying neighbors who, instead of showing understanding and simpathy for their mental handicap, drove Fiona and her daughter to a terrible end. Where were the social workers? This happeneded in GB; imagine what it must be like in not so "civilized" countries!

This makes me so bloody angry..We devalue people based on perceived disabilities..we form into mobs and single people out,for these differences.I beleive that this is a social problem and reflects how we value and devalue people.
The service's were woefully inadequate in their responses..there are no excuses there..but for me this goes much deeper..and reflects the relative worth placed upon people within a society with deep problems.
Ultimately the point is to strive towards recognition of each person as having worth..

This entire incident could have been prevented if the police had done their job! WHY didn't they protect this poor family? Why weren't social services notified that this family needed help? This is truly outrageous, and the law enforcement and social services agencies in this town/county should be prosecuted! THEN the bullies should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law! The most incredible part of this sad story is that the parents of the bullies who harassed these people for months and probably for years don't even think their children did anything wrong!!!! My God, what has the world come to??

A society is only as good as it protects and cares for the least and weakest among them. This is so sad that none of their complaints were taken seriously. Now the parents, oh my children have done nothing wrong, so more denial and that only enforces what the children did was ok.
People need to stop and think that "there but for the Grace of God go I" and be grateful that they do not have medically challenged children to raise. Instead of throwing stones the parents should of set an example to their children to be kind and make them feel a welcome part of the neighborhood.

A very sad and senseless ordeal..They need to change the way they handle such things as suicide warnings..bullying..What a shame this family had suffered so much..very sad..
