I have maintained the same after-school routine for roughly three-fourths of my high school career. When I get home, I’ll usually get a snack, listen to music, and surf Facebook for half an hour.

I was sitting on Facebook one afternoon looking through some new photos of my friend at a football game. The sequence of comments was fairly run-of-the-mill; there were some chummy remarks from his teammates, a few gushy sentiments from his girlfriend, and one excessively adulatory comment from ... his mother?"

My daughter had a situation arise because of her grandmother being on her Facebook page. I sided with my child, but it stirred up a bit of trouble. I've advised her to maintain 2 Facebook pages, one for friends and another for family/job/church, etc.. And, parents, grandparents, etc; if the kids in your life let you enter their sphere, respect that priviledge, don't abuse it. In this case MIL went running to my (18) year old, in college, daughter's Dad & ratted her out for potty mouth (she had used the 'F' word on a particularly bad day). Comparing my Honors program, non-drinking girl's track record with what her Dad & her Grandma had been up to at her age, it was extremely hypocritical.

This kid(little boy) needs to learn respect.
In the mean time he should shut his berligerant
mouth.

Someday he will get old(older) if he lives to see it.

A perfect example of a child molester to be, it is obvious that he has needed a foot put where the sun don't shine for quite a while! Where are HIS parents?

My younger son was the one who encouraged and helped me start a myspace page years ago..And.. recently he and his g/f did the same with facebook..and though I hardly go to either one..I do think kids deserve their own space (age appropriate of course) and they definitely deserve respect..I don't think we can teach them to be respectful without first respecting them..Respect is a two way street..no exceptions ever..

I think in this day and age..these website are much like the diaries some of us oldies kept..And we certainly didn't want our diaries sitting out in the open for our parents or anyone to read..

There ii a need to be sure they are safe in this day and age of course being right out there so open and exposed..In that sense it is a different..But bottom line is we do need to not just demand respect and not give it in return..
Some are comfortable with their parents and family as friends on the websites..and some are not..

Dee......It was this kids attitude that got me.
If he wants respect then he has got to show it as well.

Hey Adam, I'm one of the older users on Facebook! A tender 39!
I am not surprised that someone that is your age would make a statement that people older than you shouldn't be on facebook.
Although, you do realize that this site is open to anyone 14 years or older?
Also, this is a social media site that people can use for business networking, meetings and the like.
I'm glad I found Facebook, because I have been able to contact people that I haven't seen since I was 15 years old, in fact a very good friend of mine just added me the other day.
I found out he has been married for 19 years, has two kids, and has been working at a corrections facility.
So, all I acn say is that soon you will realize that Facebook is for all ages, and you are just simply wrong for saying that "older folks don't have the right or shouldn't be able to use it"
Weren't you raised not to discriminate?
Hope you learn not to discriminate, it will help you out in this life.

Have us oldies forgotten what it is like to be young..I guess I see it as him just expressing his thoughts..and I don't see where he was disrespectful..We hopefully teach our children to speak their hearts and mind openly..and yet when they do some blast them for it..

I think the fact that facebook originally started out just for kids..I can also see where they feel it has been invaded..And especially so when there is a parent who thinks it is okay to post in the way that some have..As sweet as our intentions may be..it could be embarrassing to them..

He's young..let him express..let him grow..as we all did at one time..

Believe we can only expect respect from our children when we respect them. They have the right to privacy. I was the "good girl" & still am, never had need for a diary, no dark secrets to hide. Should NOT reprimand your child [or any person] in public [unless it cannot be helped]. When you do this on Facebook, it is VERY public.... Making it VERY wrong, in my opinion. My son has the right to privacy, period. Have given him respect since he was born. Think respect should be earned, NOT forced. How can a child respect a parent who invades their privacy?

All I can say is this: Adam, get off it! You don't have to accept any friend request if you don't want to. I for one am enjoying catching up with friends and relatives whom I haven't seen for years. Is it your opinion that anyone over 18 has no right to do this? Give me a break!

i'm on facebook for only one, well no two reasons.my daughters asked me to join, cause it would make it easier to stay connected daddy! so if you don't want to talk to your family on it don't accept them when they ask for you.must be nice also to just eat and sit at the puter after school.everyone has the choice, accept or not.but remember there are a lot of us on fb because our children wanted us to be.not to pry or snoop on them.plus if i remember correctly, and maybe i'm wrong but wasn't it young adults whom started fb? not "kids"learn to relax young fellow.lifes to short to uptight youself over such an insignificant thing!!
