29 Years, and fans still come to the entrance of the building, to Strawberry Fields in Central Park- some of them grew up with his music, like a woman playing tapes on a boom-box by the Imagine mosaic- some weren't even born when he was killed, like members of a band who played his songs on the band shell.

All Those Years Ago, and we still remember.

I took these photos on Sunday, December 6, 2009 at the Dakota and Central Park in Manhattan's West Side in New York City where Lennon lived the last years of his life.

I heard the awful news around 11:30 that night. I was so devastated I couldn't go to school for the rest of the week. All these years later and I still do not understand WHY.
But I am still a Beatlemaniac, and John still lives in my heart and soul-he will forever.
Rest In Peace John.

Thanks Dee for posting this to Care2. I think it's very fitting that this community pays tribute to John Lennon.

You can not believe the odd people that complained on the CNN page that carried a main article on this anniversary...so hateful ... it burned me up...but I didn't post on it.
Some were complaining that the anniversary of Pearl Harbor was MORE important. Now, how does that sound? Disrupting the the whole somber discussion of one issue just to claim what is more important?
I was in London, England, signing off a mid shift when I was in the Navy, when I saw the news via the network. Oh, did I walk in shock for too long and tears on my cheek.
Laura, I am still in the WHY? mode...will never understand it.

Oh I can believe it Jacki..and sadly so..far too many just looking for discord of any sort..Yes very hateful..again sadly so..

It's not even a matter of who or what is more important..How silly to complain..

I am with you and Laura..as I still ask why..such a senseless act..and such a sad loss..

Thank you all for your comments here..And thank you Monica for the star..

John Lennon will forever remain in our hearts..
