The Bush administration this month is quietly cutting off birth control supplies to some of the world's poorest women in Africa. Thus the paradox of a "pro-life" administration adopting a policy whose result will be tens of thousands of additional abortio

Shouldn't we try to improve the lives of those already born, the thousands that will die of hunger and the be left without a parent for lack of basic health care? This world is dangerously overpopulated as is, to deny birth control to hese regions is ignorant and wrong.

Denying birth control & promoting abstinance is naive, irresponsible, and even dangerous. I believe in promoting adoption, although there needs to be much better accountibility & oversight in current adoption agencies.

Bush WANTS to exacerbate the problem, then find the solution that will line the pockets of big business and the money controllers. It's how he and the neocon puppets operate. It's what they do best: screw the people, then screw them some more.

These poor people, probably the only pleasure they have is sexual intimacy and BushCo wants to even stress them out over that. What a moronic monster

I see the article mentions that McCain supports this dark age thinking.

Can't believe this stone age thinking!!

In this day & age of 6.3 billion people & the vast majority of them are way below the poverty level.

Beside Bush cutting off funds for this are there other countries who support & supply birth control to these 3rd world nations??????????

Roseann.....In a situation of shear poverty a bowl of hot soup would be more pleasurable than sex don't you think!!??

Birth control is a whole lot better than abortion. If you feel the gut need to have an abortion go for it.........But, in the long run it is a whole lot better to use the cheapest birth control known to man......

SAY "NO"..........

Politics & religion have no business being in the business of a womans personal decision as far as to have or not to have an abortion. Seems men rule in this area to benefit themselves more than women & children.

Unfortunately most men don't know that word and most of the women affected by this story don't have the option of saying no.

Clever...Agree. Education of the masses on health & birth control is essential to improving the quality of life for women & the children who are already here.

Mother Earth does not need any more "leeches" upon the almost used up natural resources of the earth.

Le sigh...

More birth control and sex education = fewer pregnancies.
Fewer pregnancies = fewer abortions.
Fewer aborti

At the rate the world population is going there will come a day when there will be a worldwide ban on having children before a certain age.

It is hard to believe but there are children as you as 10/11/12 in the poorer nations having children. And none of these are by consent.....It is rape of their bodys & souls through customs & ancient beliefs. In a word it is force to satisfy the men as much as the custom & beliefs!!!!!!!!

Do animals think, do and live in this area as we do? Do animals have doctrines, customs & beliefs for sex as opposed to keep the species going? Somehow all of mans thinking in the area of sexuality is warped & destructive!!
