A spider's web encased in a piece of amber found by two brothers on an East Sussex beach has been confirmed as the oldest known to science.

Interesting I'm beginning to think I might as Sussexillian have emerged from an important place as the spiders web and the Boxgrove man in the adjoining County of Weat Sussex not to mention the famous fraud of the "Piltdown Man" also in East Sussex. Then there is me what more evidence do you need of the missing link!
Just think those spiders had there web going long before we did so whose a clever little arachnoid then!

LOL Chris, you the missing link, nah. Fantastic story though. Isn't it amazing what can survive over so many millions of years. I wonder where mankind will be after 140 million years - down the chute no doubt! Sophie thanks for sharing this up-lifting story!

Hmmmmmmmm...Is that what you call 'survival of the least victimized'? This must predate the invention of fly-swatters and the desire of the human race to indiscriminately swat 8-legged crawlers while screaming Ewwwwwwwwwww.
