I can't look at any more photos/footage; I have been crying all day. The poor babies-all of the suffering...it isn't fair.

I saw these, and particularly the picture you posted, several hours ago and spontaneously burst into tears (not something I'm prone to doing)...

I wonder if BP et al could be prosecuted under animal cruelty laws.

Little Dirt - I did, too, it's why I felt compelled to post this.

Mary, that's is a very interesting concept and I, too, now wonder if that might be possible since many of those birds are protected from harm, hunting and other action by the Migratory Species Act of 1918. If there were any way to do that, it should be done.

I cannot fathom, imagine, even begin to know what it must have been like to be coated in raw petroleum, gasping for breath, swallowing that thick ooze, eyes stinging in pain, feeling yourself die and have no frame of reference for this kind predation. Humans have gone too far, and we deserve to have our hands slapped and our throne toppled for our various crimes. We are certainly NOT the "superior species."

This may sound a little odd, but I can't thank you, Rooibos for the misery you brought me with these pictures.

You were moved to grieve for those beings, and that's what counts...you felt their misery and know they are suffering an unjust suffering. I understand that, Ralph.

The more I look at that photo, the more I feel the need to unzip my skin and climb out of it because I cannot stand what is going on around me. These are the days I seriously consider suicide because I cannot reconcile or make sense of what other humans do, and all the injustice and evil humans alone are responsible for.
