Pharmacists serve dual roles in providing both medical care and furthering the technological aspects of current medical care.

Thanks Nancy for posting this article about the new roles of pharmacists. II worked as a Pharmacy Thecnician years ago. I was in on the ground program when technicians started haveing to go to school and earn a certificate to work next to the pharmacists. The eveolution of pharmacists jobs was evolving back then. And to day when I visit with the pharmacists I used to work with, the changes in the rolls are just awesome. The communications between the pharmacists and the doctors has conquered hurdles that the public could never imagine. It is deffinately for the betterment of everyone when it comes to health concerns and medicines. Changes that needed to be made. I encourage everyone to not be afraid to communicate with your pharmacists. You will be surprised how much they can aid you and your doctor in your health care and getting answers to your questions.

I am so glad that recognition in the role of the pharmacists in finally coming. I have always sought information from mine. They are more aware of drug reactions and interactions that many doctors.

They actually now have unfortunately a third role as the religiious guardians of the public morality a along with their other duties they can refuse to fill perscriptions that do not fit their particular religious ideology reguardless of the doctors medical opinion or the patients right to frelious freedom.

Actually..its not so new at all..Most good pharmacists have always offered sound medical consultation to their patients..Personally speaking..I have sought their advice far more often than a medical doctor..and did so with the utmost respect for them..
I think some people just never think of them as being more than just someone who dispenses medicine..

Thanks Nancy..
