Only until you speak up, volunteer, donate and act aggressively will your efforts actually make a difference in the community. Here are 10 signs you might be a slacktivist.

I think we know better on Care2 that petitions can & DO make a difference !

I think the "more activist than thou" syndrome is deadly. We should inspire others with our own activism, bring to light awesome examples of activism, and support whatever level of commitment other people bring to our common cause. In our post-modern culture we need stress, pressure or judgment like a hole in the head.

In any case, do I care if someone thinks I'm a "slacktivist" ? I don't.

Those rubber bracelets are really annoying -- just more pollution in the world, without doing much.

nicely said, Pamylle! at this point, i think ANY effort by ANYONE is worth it's weight in gold. There are only so many people who can be at the top of the pyramid, but they need ALL those other folks beneath them to hold them up.

And ya, maybe the bracelets are "pollution" when they're disposed of, but if they help the wearer remain conscious of the ideal or cause or commitment they made, then they're perhaps a more worthwhile "evil" than say, plastic water bottles

N'd, Thanks Nancy. Good thing most of us trying to make a difference aren't falling for their "all or nothing" nonsense!! ALL this article is saying, is if you can't do it HUGE then don't do anything....that's all people need is to be discouraged, by the author of this one article, saying don't try!! I think EVERY little bit helps!! Some may do more and others may do what they can ....any of it will bring more awareness to the causes.... therefore anything that shows support/awareness to a cause is a GOOD THING..anything is better then indifference!!

I think the article is saying do more, not do less.

However, people do what they can.
