I do believe that our companion animals can develop OCD, but this seems an unusual manifestation -- I had a cat that was poisoned who did the same fly-catching thing - without the jumping - as a symptom (He recovered).

So sad to see the poor pup stuck in that sort of OCD manifestation. I hope they can find ways to resolve these problems. But, of course, in-breeding to constantly produce the "perfect" pure-bred dog is much of what contributes to these. Why I like my Heinz 57 mutts LOL.

Are you certain he's not going for flies or bees (bees are easier to see) My boy used to do it, he would catch a bee on every 3rd jump, but after 5 would throw up. He though they were evading his territory,
