For decades, experimenters at the University of Wisconsin-Madison (UW) have been conducting cruel and useless taxpayer-funded "sound localization" studies in which cats have steel coils implanted in their eyes, holes drilled into their skulls

Noted and signed - absolutely heartbreaking that monsters can do things like this to innocent animals - again I say, there are enough wicked humans to experiment on.

While the story is disgusting, the source is equally disgusting and untrustworthy. My version of the study would have equipped vaccinated and TNRed feral cats with head accelerometers, stereo microphones, and a few other easily glued on sensors coupled to a GPS and burst transmitter and would have gathered data over a week or two without harm to the cats. The spent sensors would have dropped off after the battery runs out. Cheaper and fully humane. I'd also kick PETA off campus for fraud.

One has to wonder if these "scientists' are really sadists. They seem to not care at all. I wonder why it is that animals have to suffer for the lives of the precious humans too. Why should their pain be considered so trivial for the sake of humans. We really are not that special.

As I commented on another vivisection post, what's with Care2's sense of irony in having ads for Pfizer pharmaceuticals on anti-animal-testing news items? Are they trying to convince us otherwise, or are they in league with us and are playing a joke on Pfizer?

Signed. This one left me in tears, I love cats, I have 4 kitties, they are so sweet and loving I can't understand why anyone would be so cruel to them, they should have the same thing done to them, sick jerks. An eye for an eye hope they get punished somehow for this in someway, what goes around comes around.

IT'S NOT ONLY UNFORTUNATE IT IS INHUMANE THAT IN ALMOST EVERY CASE, METHODS OTHER THAN THOSE WHICH HURT, TORTURE, AND/OR KILL ANIMALS CAN BE USED, BUT ARE NOT BECAUSE IT COSTS A BIT MORE. THIS IS SHAMEFUL.
